I'm helping a friend sort out hard starting issues on his new stella. He bought it second hand - 1,000 miles on it, stock (as far as we can tell) with a sito plus.

It simply will not start via electric start. It can be started with some difficulty with the kickstart. He had a baggy in his glovebox with a complete main mixture stack and jet in it, so someone completely replaced the mixture stack along with the main when they popped the sito + on.

I have two questions:

1) what is the stock main mixture stack and main jet on a Stella?

2) is the mixture screw on a stella a fine thread (meaning default setting is 2-2.5 turns out) or is it a steep thread (default setting ~1.5 turns out)?

Thanks for the help guys!

I do not know but I can check my friend's this weekend....it is not "stock" but has a sito plus and is tuned for altitude....not sure if that will help or not.

Lots of threads on this at Stellaspeed.com. One fellow compiled the various jetting info from there and said (for Sito+ and "deblued" filter):

I compiled the list into an excel sheet for easy sorting/filtering and basic statistics (Median, Mode, Average) filtering on Stellas with Sito+, stock Carbs

Main - seems most people like 100, although it goes as low as 98 and as high as 116. Average is 114.
Idle - Most common is stock 40/130, a good number is on 55/160
Air - almost everyone is on 160 with a couple on stock 140
Mixer - BE3 (is that stock?) is the most common, a couple have BE4.

Thanks so much Al! That post will be a great reference for users here.

He's running a stock scoot with sito plus, but still has stock idle, stock air, stock mixer, and a 96 main - so we've got some jetting work to do with his main at least for safe riding. His electric start simply doesn't seem to work, but we got the carb tuned up better with the mixture screw so that it kickstarts reliably.
