Anyone who is being told it will take several weeks to get a new pump or several days in the shop to replace the pump is having trouble with their dealer. Piaggio USA has a large supply of the pumps now and the replacement job takes no more than one hour and a half max. Even if your dealer is busy, surely he is capable of telling you which day he can do the job and making an appointment.

Before I looked at your post, I called another Vespa shop in town, and the service dood did say that with the recall, it could take a couple of weeks to get one. I believe he alluded that it would be coming from Italy, and would be hard to track. |

I tend to agree that Piaggio is just trying to make the issue go away with the least impact to their pocket, not the wellbeing of the customer.
I've been following the posts on MV or else I would have never known there was a potential problem with my bike that could leave me in a dangerous situation. When I purchased my bike, they were provided my contact information in order for my warranty to be activated. They have my address. They could have sent me a nice letter asking me to contact my dealer about a "free upgrate" fuel pump. That would have cost them postage. There are definitely some stand-up dealers who called their own customers and provided quick service, no doubt. I'm also thankfou for Piaggio finding a solution to the problem. I just don't think they went far enough to ensure the safety of their customers. |

New fuel pump installed; 2 weeks later. Problem NOT solved. It is still lugging once I get over 35 mph. I will moved onto another thread to discuss this issue.
The service clerk handed me a $400+ bill, and I appealed to the manager that this should be a recall problem. He agreed. phew. |
