Almost 18,000 miles and nary a scratch. I set her on the side stand on nowhere South Dakota and she falls over! Sure I set her nice and steady on the stand. The BV500 has a respectable side stand. We were on a paved surface. The problem is that it was FREAKING hot and the pavement was soft (he says in hindsight) and the side stand went THROUGH the pavement and over she went. SHIT!
Here's some pics of the damage. Looks like I am in the market for some black plastic trim for the left side. DOUBLE SHIT!
The hole my side stand made in the pavement after the bike was lifted back up

Damage to side case. Black faring trim is also damaged

need to carry one of those kick stand pads all m/c shops sell. in a pinch find a empty can laying around and smash it flat and put you kick stand on that. I use to carry a piece of 1/4 ply wood bout 4" x 4" , anything to spread the weight out more on the surface.

Bummer. Even as hot as it's been here in central TX lately I haven't seen pavement soft enough for this to happen. But, most of the pavement here isn't actual asphalt. It's that tar and chip stuff. Mostly gravel with a little tar to kind of hold it in place.
I've seen on other threads here that some carry 4x4 blank metal electrical cover plates to put under their stands.
I hope you can get the scratches taken care of. Maybe some creative use of reflective tape or stickers?

That bites. Luckily it's easy and cheaper to replace plastic.

So sorry. I know how you are feeling. The same thing happened to me last weekend. Center stand sunk into hot asphalt and toppled the boy over. Estimate from paint shop was $250 plus a new brake lever. I now have an old license plate in my case to put under the center stand. It gets some second looks and then followed by a nod as if to say, "I understand".

So sorry. If it's going down, better to not be on it.

Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement. How many times can you find some version of the above post on this website? (you have my sympathy about damage to your scoot, but this story has been told many times)

You need to keep an eye out for soft spots. Same thing happened
to my ET4. I put it up on the center stand and within a half hour
when I went outside, the ET4 was lying on its side, Luckly there
wasn't any damage bec of all the vinyl stickers on the sides.

Take out the equals sign and add a bracket so it looks like this:

Rats, I remember growing up in Tampa and having this happen to our bikes when we were kids and you'd go inside for a bit and come out and you bikes would be on their sides.

A lot more evasive and expensive with our current bikes!

Looks like I'm not the only one. My S went down on my driveway this afternoon. I thought I had picked a good spot to set the stand, stepped away, and crash. Wha? emoticon

Now I have a nice dent and some scratches on the side of my scooter. Crying or Very sad emoticon
