I bolted the battery tender cable to my battery, but there does not seem to be anyway to enable easy access to it from outside the black plastic panel. I really don't want to drill any holes, because it only invites water

For those with battery tenders: Can you plug it in from outside the bike or do you take the 4 screws out and remove the plastic black plate in the floor every time? How is it mounted?

thanks in advance Nerd emoticon

You should be able to run it towards the back. From either side of the scooter (while you are on the ground), look towards the front from the back of the scooter. You will see wires and stuff running into the floor board area.

Battery Tender
I ran mine back thru the engine compartment and thru the pet carrier on one side (it makes no difference which side). I then cut an opening thru the pet carrier near the bottom and pulled the plug-in thru, and then I just plug the Battery Tender in and close the seat. There's room for it to fit easily. The only problem I've found with this is during service or any reason for taking the pet carrier out...you must work the pig tail thru before removing it.

There is just room to either get it very readily available at the front of the underside of the seat (there are holes in the metal for this), or you can just leave it in front hidden by the pet carrier.

I ran mine underneath and used cable ties to attach it to the other cables that are there. I have mine on the left side poking out just behind the floorboards.

Yep. Run wires back through the engine compartment and up by the side of the pet carrier. Tucks under the front of the seat.

I ran mine back into the engine compartment and used wire ties to secure it there. I have to remove the pet carrier to hook up, but that's OK because I don't do it often. If you run it under the edge of the pet carrier or through an unprotected hole in the body you run the risk of fraying through the insulation. Most of them have a fuse that would protect the wiring, but there are scenarios where the wear could be close to the battery and that would drain the battery, or start a fire,

By the way, I wrapped some white electrical tape around the black connector to aid me in finding it in the engine compartment where everything else is also black.

I have a lx 150, so it may be different, after attaching cable thread it through letf of two holes in battery holder, continue to left over air filter (i think) inside cowl where it hangs over variator above dip-stick, the tender stays in the glove box. Damn, my life is complicated.

Hmmmm good choice. You don't happen to have pics of this? I'm very visual and new...so I'm having trouble picturing this.

I had wired, directly to the battery, a 12v socket (cigarette lighter type) to the knee pad on my ET4 in order to plug in my iPhone or GPS. Turns out it's perfect for using an adapter and plugging in the charger to charge the battery.

I have heard of some members who run their connector behind one of the foot pegs. When they need to hook up the tender, they fold out the foot peg and pull out the plug behind it. When done, they stuff the plug back in and are done.

I ran mine into the engine bay and access it after taking out the pet carrier.

BTW, this is what I did with the extra cable: I cut off the crocodile clamps and soldered the ends to a cigarette lighter socket. Now I can charge a phone or something by just plugging this into the pigtail connected to the battery.

Run it up under the pet carrier and zip tie it to the side somewhere. When you go to charge it just pop the seat and take the pet carrier out.

Thank you, and yes, correct polarity is essential. If you have a car, check where the + and - are. I think (but could be wrong again--it happened once before) that - is on the outside wall, + on the inner center point.
