So its 95 degrees in the shade today again but the sun went away for a bit so I decided to try and finish putting this damn bike together. Got it 95% back together. I installed the seat and went to close it......nothing, it won't latch shut.

I played around with it for a while. When I pressed the electric button you could hear the motor kick on but the latch wouldn't move. It was staying open. I took a screwdriver and tried to manually close the latch. It moved but not much. I was already outside working on the bike for a few hours and the sun came out and I was literally dripping with sweat.

I popped the glove-box door to grab the manual release lever and to my wonderful surprise I found the lever jammed open. Apparently when I put the glove-box and leg-shield together I somehow managed to allow the cable housing to slip back into the back of the box and now it was F$%king everything up. Look at the picture below. since I had to go to dinner I rolled the bike back into the garage disgusted.

I would rather crawl through a field of broken glass than take the leg-shield assembly off again. I am wondering if I can get the cable back through into the glove-box again with a tiny screwdriver and a small pair of needle-nose pliers. That or I may drill a small access hole next to it and try to pull it through that way. I was not up to messing around with it anymore today so I didn't really spend too much time looking at it.

AAHHHHH !

When you say "legshield", what do you mean?

I mean, I know what it means to me, but you seem to be using it in a completely nonstandard way. The legshield doesn't come off. It's attached to the frame. The glove box comes off independent of everything else.

Besides, can't you grab the end of the housing with a pair of needle-nose pliers?

I hope to get it with plier tomorrow. I was too tired today to keep working on it and I was late for dinner.

When I say legshield in this case, I mean plastic legshield, glovebox assembly.

Glovebox would work but there is more to it than just the glove box so I throw in assembly to include the whole entire unit.

You should be able to gain access from the left knee panel. One screw, no headaches!

2 sweaty hours later I found that even though it appeared there was enough slack with the glove-box loose when tightened down properly it pulled so tight that the cable wouldn't move. I found some slack in the rear but it wasn't enough. I ended up taking the glove-box off and loosening the floor on the left side. When doing so I saw the cable had re-routed itself and I moved it over giving myself another 3 inches of slack which fixed the problem.

Thank God !

Wha? emoticon
