Just checked ebay for a Vintage Green helmet and was rather shell shocked at the price. Of course, it was that much 4 years ago when I passed on it.

So, has anybody just taken the color code and had a paint shop do the deed over the current helmet's color?

I've got a FF, and for short local rides, the Vespa Vintage in portofino green, as pic below.

If this is the kind of thing you're referring to, its instructions say:

"The outer shell of this helmet is made of Thermoplastic: do not paint or apply stickers......".

Of course it's technically possible to have a plastic lid painted. We've plastic parts on our scoots. But AFAIK most helmet manufacturers would also not recommend it.

Unless you need the helmet in a hurry just be patient and keep checking eBay and Craigslist. I saw a brand new one sell for around $100 recently.

The curiosity in me wonders why painting a plastic part is not recommended, but I've learned to accept as I get older. Thanks for the response.
