...and scooters too, of course.

Look what we got. Nice motorcycle-only spaces at stoplights all around town. Cars are learning to stay back, too.

That's absolutely awesome and i wish we had them here Crying or Very sad emoticon Were so not scooter friendly here in the states. Altho Hawaii is better than most since we do have a lot of scooters. We get free parking(more often than not) and most places have designated MC/scooter spots for parking. 8)

Nice.

Here in Pennsylvania we'll get the special space up front for diesel pickup trucks.

In Taiwan the PTW (scooters in particular) is king. They have the same type of box at the front of the line. During rush hour, the box becomes packed with scooters.

In Portland, there are green boxes like that at many intersections but they are only for bicycles (and mopeds?).

Boy, is THAT ever an LA attitude!

Around here, if you tried that, you'd have pedestrians whoppin' you upside the helmet, and deservedly so. Razz emoticon

This is a very pedestrian-oriented town, with crosswalks being sacrosanct. I kinda like it that way. Something tells me I'd make a lousy Southern Californian.

^^It's all about the Pumas baby!!!

Just playin.

It will be a freezing day during the summer here in Phoenix before the city has anything like that for motorcyclists/scooterists. We "can't" even lane split here; not that some of us don't do it anyway.

+ 1 Don't expect people to respect your right of way if you don't respect theirs. Has it ever occurred to you that their are very few pedestrians where you live because they are scared of being hit by all the drivers who don't respect their right of way? Do unto others & all that.

no, there are very few pedestrians where I live because it takes forever to walk anywhere that you would want to go. Even by LA standards we have very few pedestrians. I've sat at one of the largest intersections in my city for an hour and there were 5 people that crossed the street and 3 of them were in one group. I don't do it if there are people waiting at the corner to cross either, just when I don't wanna get rear ended by the person behind me.

I was in Santa Fe, New Mexico yesterday and saw 4 motorcycle parking spaces in front of a store in the space that would normally be one car space. However, each motorcycle space had its own parking meter!! So 4x the revenue for that space for the city (and the fare seemed to be the same for car or bike/scooter) though I did see one Metropolitan parked up next to a lamp post whether it would get a ticket for being there or not I haven't a clue.

Had two trips to Barcelona this year (including my first ever). I found Casa Batllo so inspiring. http://www.casabatllo.es/

Great architecture - check
Lane splitting - check
Affordable scooter rental - check
Scooter boxes - check

Thanks for sharing!

Great idea.

Be great to see if the 19th century ludites here could even dream of it. There is almost no (motor)bike parking here in Sadelaide - they are still stuck on the "everyone must have car" model of transport.......

Might send a pic to Fix It Pat - the Minister for Trucking, i mean transport......

That looks like Eixample to me - we were staying about a block further up Passeig de Gracia from where you took this just last week (the corner of Gracia and Valencia).

Great part of the world and, as nice as your photos are, they don't even come close to illustrating how much scooters are king in Barcelona. You're lucky to live in such a lovely and scootery place!

Those are pretty cool. I think they have them in London. I didn't see any, but I have read the London MVers discussing them.

We don't have pedestrians around where I live either. Probably because there are no sidewalks or cross walks. Even if there are crosswalks, cars frequently pull into them. The cars here don't understand that you are supposed to stop behind the thick white line. They often stop part way into the intersection. No one gets a ticket either. You only get a ticket around here for illegally parking, speeding, or not wearing a seat belt.

Unless of course you are my husband, who recently got a ticket for failing to signal, which is incredibly ironic, because he is a very consistent signaler. No one else signals around here except us. In fact, the cop that gave him a ticket didn't even signal when he changed lanes to get him
