So I was reading this thread earlier tonight and Thought "Damn I'm glad I've never hit an animal"

Tonight I hit a raccoon with my girlfriend's car. I feel horrible.

Also ( for those of you who know Denver) WTF is a raccoon doing on Colfax.....

Out of curiosity, what's the largest animal anyone's ever hit safely? What's the tipping point for swerving, in other words.

I ran over an alley cat last Friday. The thing just ran in front of me out of nowhere in an alley going 25mph. The weird thing is it was a black cat trying to cross my path on Friday the 13th....

Hit a squirrel probably one month after getting my scooter! Stopped at the next light to check scooter and car behind me said he ran off. Guess the squirrel was a Vespa enthusiast wanting a closer look!!

I regularly kill/inhale several small winged creatures on my commute (open face helemt) - does that count? Can I get stickers too???

I've hit a dear...on my scooter....My fiance saved the voice mail I left her of me crying "I think I killed a momma deer!....oh wait, its getting up and running away!" to prove it.

Was going up a small hill and on a 50cc I was probably going no more than 30 mph jumped out right in front of me. I remember seeing it in the corner of my eye so I leaned back and grabbed the brakes leaning as far back as I could. Hit the deer dead smack on in the front legs it fell to the ground and laid there for a bit...

I called my fiance frantic her phone was off so I left a message along the lines of

"oh my god, I hit a dear...it has not horns...its a momma deer! I think I killed a momma dear! Oh wait its getting up and running away!" I was so frantic and upset I was crying (yes real men cry when they think they should have been dead for hitting a deer bigger than their scooter.

She plays that voice mail from time to time to mock me...its usually in front of people.
