I don't have pics but hopefully I can paint a decent mental image for you.

I was out for an early morning ride yesterday and happened to be following a guy on a sport bike. GSCBNIN 1000 something or other.... not important.

The guy was wearing an off-white leather one piece racing suit with the requisite knee pucks and Quasi Moto ( Razz emoticon ) back hump. What was interesting though was the condition of the suit. It looked like he had taken a belt sander to every surface in order to replicate multiple slides on the asphalt. The front, back, legs and arms all had very long, straight abrasion marks. It looked quite comical really. Every mark went the length wise from hip to ankle, from cuff to shoulder, from waist to neck. I don't know if this was bought like that or if it was a home modification... Has anyone seen anything similar? I've seen leathers that have met the ground at speed and they looked nothing like that.

And here I was touching up my leathers with shoe polish to hide the scuffs in the knees.

Nope, the leathers weren't ratty. That's the point, they had no obvious signs of point abrasion. Think of a freshly stained board. Now picture taking a piece of sandpaper and dragging it down the length of the board in one single motion. Thats what the back, the arms and the legs of the suit looked like. A very nice clean white leather suit with sandpaper - like scratches on it. you don't get that from sliding on asphalt. This is what you get from sliding on asphalt:

Yup, that sounds faked

It actually may have come with the 'abrasions' from the mfg. A style thing. I think I have seen a couple of suits like that.
I don't see what the hub-bub is all about though. The dood is wearing protective gear which is great. Say he did change the look of it. Well, that's his call, if that's what makes him happy, so be it. He's still wearing protective gear.
Imagine the outrage here if a motorcyclist made fun of the typical scooter gear or stickers/cute paint jobs many scooter riders like.

Live and let live people.

Why? You might be assaulted by a clown with beltsander at any time!

Toreador Pants in case of clowns, or risk beltsander rash!

I *never* would have thought of that

You probably don't realize
that the motorcycle fashion icons in this & similar vicinities
are pretty much all Harley dudes rocking the "gear is for wusses" look

Stylistically-scratched leathers are wildly remote from our experience

He was wearing gear, so I don't think anyone will complain Razz emoticon

I would love to see someone in full leathers, helmet, gloves, and flop flops Clown emoticon
