Strapping a leather briefcase to my topbox with bungie cords to transport a laptop and a few papers was a bit too cumbersome. So I purchased a super slim 60's era Tourister hard vinyl briefcase, drilled a hole, hammered on a brass grommet to protect the vinyl, screwed it on the rack where the topbox is usually attached (using a piece of masonite on the inside for stability), and ta-da! Now I can just unscrew and take the briefcase with me, laptop and all. Here are some picks;

Looks great!!

Vespa did actually make a briefcase specifically meant to mount on the ET rear rack. I've hardly ever seen pictures of it though, and never seen one in person, so I'm assuming they're fairly rare.

You did a really nice job with yours, though!

Yeah, there is at least one commercial brand, but the cost is astronomical. I found this vintage briefcase on Craig's List for a very reasonable price, and it took about fifteen minutes to set up. My laptop, in its protective sleeve, fits in the pocket that is attached to the top of the briefcase, so it doesn't rest directly on the bottom of the case attached to the rack. This will reduce some of the vibration, too.

Admittedly, it won't hold my helmet! Razz emoticon

I have one of the Vespa ones. It's my alternative topbox when I need to carry my notebook computer. It's got two hooks and one screw on a stainless steel carrier that can be used to attach to most racks (designed for ET, works on GT, works on GT60/GTV/GTS with a little work). The carrier has a lock that locks the briefcase on and the briefcase has locking latches that hold it closed.

I got some of the tear off cube foam that you can get from photography stores and have the outline of my notebook in the main compartment, files/etc in the file compartment and some pens and tools in the pockets. While I agree that it is spendy, the data on my notebook is much more so and the cool factor is hard hard hard to beat.

I know mine was a total PITA to track down but it is damn cool.
