I have a brand new Ivory GTV 250 that somehow was tipped over. I came
out to find paint scraped off I think what you would consider the trim as
well as the cover over the wheel. I am absolutely devistated!!!!! She's my pride and joy. Luckily there aren't any dents so I'm hoping it can be
buffed out and repainted. What should my concerns be about having it painted. Should I go to the Vespa dealer, a body shop, not sure???
Your comments are very much appreciated. Crying or Very sad emoticon

it would be helpful if you put your location in your profile as people can probably even direct you to a local shop.

Oh Good!! You got your first scratch/road rash over with!! That's always the most painful. Can you cover the damage with stickers? Stripes? Make it look intentional? Have you considered painting the areas in any new colors to compliment your Ivory? There are pictures here of some pretty awesome custom paint jobs that would really customize the scoot to.... you.

As was mentioned, if you post where you are someone is likely to know what's available in your area for repair.

Don't despair...we've all done it at least once!!

Detail what's damaged or at least post pictures would hep too...

Re: Brand New Vespa Damaged
so sorry to hear tht.. at least no dents or deep scratch that bare metal is expose. I realise.. rust gets easily trap near the signal holes there or other area where water can seep in...

As wht the other 2 have said.. Using sticker will be good and cheaper way to cover up the dent and also to beautify yur baby...

It won't help with your scratches, but how did it happen? In a parking lot? On a paved surface or soft ground? Center stand or side stand? Did it get hit by another vehicle? Pushed over by a prankster or pissed off citizen? On a hill?

Again, answers to any of the pertinent questions won't fix the scratches, but we might be able to offer advice to prevent it from happening in the future.

Ask your Vespa dealer for bodyshop recommendations.

Dealers don't usually do paint, but will have a shop they use and trust.

Sorry to hear about your scoot. Bluecloud has the right idea about possible repair advice.

Be careful of where you park. Especially when it's as hot as it's been lately, the road surface can get pretty soft and your scooter stand can sink, causing the bike to fall. Look for really solid ground or put something under the stand: you'll see people using everything from crushed cans to special kickstand pads designed for the purpose.

If it's seriously minor stuff that you can cry over and then live with, you can do a bit of repair yourself. Wash the scratched areas very well and towel-dry them off. Use Soft Scrub to buff out any dark scratches, and wipe it off quickly with a damp towel. Use Scratch Doctor to minimize small scratches, also wiping off quickly with a damp towel.

This is what I do, and I have the same bike in the same color. It isn't perfect, but for scratches that may cost a lot to repair on a daily rider scoot, it works quite well.

Oh... and if you don't have them already, crash bars can help minimize damage from tipping over! That's why I only have small scratches, and not a large bill from a body shop.

Aloha and welcome to the forum. Chances are gas is now in your evap system and air filter. You should disconnect the evap hose (wiki section has the step by step instructions with pics). The air filter is easy. Unscrew the outer casing and pull out the foam bit. If it smells like gas clean it with a mild soap and water. Let it dry and then rub a little air filter, mineral oil into it. Just enough so it's sticky not dripping with oil. Post some pics of the body scratches of you can and as others have said your location would help. People who might live in your area could recommend a good body shop. Hope this helps and good luck. BTW do you know who did it? If it was parked in an area that has security cameras you could see if you can figure out who did it and have them pay for fixing it.

Similar story - but this ends in smiles. Is this my Vespa virginity lost?

Some surburban yokel tipped mine over @ 6 week new - looks like he (let's assume) tried to push it off the stand with the steering locked. Deep scratches t6o front mudguard, scuffs / scractches along chrome/plastic edge trim and deep scuffs in the top box.

what really surprised me is how relaexd I am about it and that's all your fault! All this chatter about "it's not if, it's when" and I'm soooo superior coz 30 years' riding means I won't drop it ... anyhow, I was/am a bit miffed but philosophical ...

.. anyhow, I trotted off to my local dealer (not where I bought it) for a paint pencil .. none, and no codes ... but I did get a cheerful into to a small oufit that has a specialist sidelin in Vespa repairs, right in the the heart of Sydney (just off Glebe Point Road), more or less on one of my bus routes and 45 minutes walk from home at a pinch. Pop over on spec, and they're open on Saturday afternoon, take a few pics and some nice chat, and a quote phoned in cheerfully this morning which seems quite low, while their work seems quite good ... so for a few scratches (apparently inevitable), I've found a great local repair place ... and I'd be more or less whole again next Wednesday. Too easy.

Hence the smiles . Like is still good on a Sydney winter day, red vespa-ing to brekky at Bronte Beach, a (verrrry) quick dip at Clovelly Beach (brrrr), and a nice Coopers pale ale (just the one, boyzngirlz) at Coogee beach ... after all, I can't see the scratches when I'm riding!!
