I saw on Scooterworks website 30% off orders over 500.00. I called and was going to buy 1500. worth of parts. The first thing was a new lml engine and they said, no we cant do 30% off on the engine only on everything else. They said it was already 100 dollars off. I understand they are one of our sponsors but thats not right. They should state this on there site. Not good business at all.

It says "discount does not apply to items already on sale."
what did you think that meant? |

![]() JSharp wasn't all that nasty, there - post this question on ScooterBBS and you'll discover what a snarky response can entail. To address some of your concerns... I haven't been satisfied enough with them in the past to send 1500 their way. Let's just leave it at that I'll grant you, though, 30% off a new engine would have been nice. ⚠️ Last edited by xantufrog on UTC; edited 1 time

I looked for that discounts disclaimer and could not find it either, so yeah it is a bit of a bummer if you think you were going to get $300 off that motor.
They should have a disclaimer under that saying it only applies to certain products. But... instead of getting so upset if you're not happy, shop someplace else. Scooterworks seem to be good guys and I'm glad to have a resource like them available. ⚠️ Last edited by Desmolicious on UTC; edited 1 time

I definitely just got off the phone and ordered $1380 of stuff from scooterworks. I did end up saving a couple hundred dollars however, so I'm satisfied.

RE: Scooterwerks Rocks!
Hello All, I ordered the vintage Vespa P/PX saddle and passenger seat. I spoke with Anna, she is very cool. They were very helpful and the shipping was prompt. They even put a box of Lemon Heads and a Buddy Scooter Key Chain in the box. That was a nice touch. Be nice to Scooterwerks.

I'm a little upset with scooterworks as far as shipping goes. I ordered a sito+ exhuast since it was on sale for $89 and a few other odds and ends. I qualified for free shipping but I wanted it b4 the weekend so I paid $35 for 2nd day. I ordered and got my confirmation around 2 or 3 pm wed. They didn't actually ship my order until around 6 or 7 pm the next night. My last order shipped like 3 hrs after I order. It just upset me because I paid for 2nd day but since they waited a day to ship it I won't get it until Monday. The other thing is with my last order I spelled township wrong in my address (spelled it toenship, obviously not their fault). So this time I made sure to correct it. It was correct in my confirmation but was the same as last time on the ups tracking. I'm sure everything will be fine with the order but it upset me 2 pay extra for shipping and get the package @ the same time I would have with the free shipping. I only live about 200 miles away in ohio. They def good prices and a good selection but I feel like everything else is hit or miss.

unfortunately, scooterworks is like the Wal-Mart of scooter parts. I love them because they have the best prices on almost everything, but I love supporting the little (or at least smaller) guys as well.
I rest easy knowing that it doesn't matter all that much, since most local dealers order parts in bulk from scooterworks (or scooterworks direct), so the love gets spread around pretty easily. There are negative things to say about anyone. I'm not going to list all of the bad things that I know about certain shops, because I hate to gossip. If you've already had a bad experience with any particular shop, then don't shop there. We all have our favorites, and those we try to avoid. |

This is a bit off topic. Are there other sites or shops that ship with anyone other than UPS. I really try and stay away from UPS if possible. They just don't seem all that concerned with customer service. Just because my order was shipped close to the weekend UPS slapped a scheduled delivery date of 08/23/2010 on it. My package arrived in Maumee, OH (which is only about 68 miles away from where I live) at 7:52 am today and then just sat there all day until it finally departed around 12 am. If they were really concerned with trying to get it to me in the 2 days I paid for it could have been here already but since they said it wouldn't be here until the 23rd there's no hurry. I've had this happen lots of times with UPS where my package sits around for 1 or 2 days and then magically departs and travels 60-70 miles 2 my door step in less than 24 hrs the day its scheduled to arrive. Where as with say FedEx if they were able to get it to me earlier than scheduled they rescheduled it to an earlier date and bam there it was a day or 2 early. I'd gladly shop somewhere else just based on the fact they use a different shipper.

I just assumed most if not all of that stuff is made in Asia. If it were made in Italy it would be 7 or 8 times the price.

I ordered from Gene and Max with no problem. I didnt order from David yet but I spoke to him via phone and hes very nice with good advice. I do have to say that if a vendor does not serve the members of a club its bad.Case in point, I wrote to Scooter Works about this and I still didnt get a reply. I did give them a chance. They could have taken the time to reply. I still feel in my opinion they are not a good vendor. Thumbs down to them and Perry.

scooterworks thread hijack
I'm the person who originally defended scooterworks at the top of this thread. I've always had a good experience shopping with them and their products have been "as advertised" and priced fairly.
i will never buy from scooterworks again I recieved the summer sales catalog in the mail today, which is usually a very happy time for me. I flipped through and noticed some new products. Things like repop rally glove boxes and gs160 cowls. Not my thing, but hey. Then I notice they're also selling h4 to hid lighting conversion kits. Again, I can't use that product so I didn't think much of it. Then I remembered that scuutrs (spelled with o's) sells a similar product. I looked closely at the hid kits, and they even say scuutrs on them. wtf? Since when is it ok for a respectable shop like scooterworks to start selling bodgey crap? I kept flipping through the catalog... New cowl racing stripe sticker sets, that clearly have the scuutrs watermark on them. So it's official, scooterworks is now importing bodge accessories. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. But it's going to be difficult, since most local dealers buy their parts from scooter works direct, a partner distributor for scooter works. So eventually, even buying from local authorized vespa dealers won't be safe. |

This is sounding like what happened to the vintage VW scene. 90+% of the stuff for that crowd is flash chrome plated shit. Pretty but smelly.

The best you can do is buy from people who work on and ride the scooters themselves. They are less likely to sell you the wrong part by accident, and they are more likely to scrutinize the parts they buy. Not all parts from asia are crap - they key is to find someone who sells stuff they know isn't crap from experience.
This is why I like motorsport and scooters o - they know what they are talking about. They might not always have a choice where to get a part they sell, but they can tell you how well it will fit and how well it has held up on their own scooters and on bikes they service in person at their shops. I've had Gene and Max both make great recommendations to me from experience. I believe that they are the kind of people who, if they discovered a product they were trying out wasn't living up to customer expectations, would discontinue it and look elsewhere for a different source to try. |

That was nice of Jshapephoto to admit that. Your a good person. I dont know why Scooterworks has not chimed in to defend themselves. Maybe they are at fault. We all know the condition of the economy with people in a bad way and to lose customers is not good.

Scooterworks will always be the last resource for me. The few times I've used them something has gone wrong every time. Overcharged, items charged and not shipped, It's hard to get anyone on the phone that speaks scooter... you name it. The fact that they are selling scootrs junk as their own worries me even more.
I don't have a local shop within several hundred miles of where I am, so mail order is pretty much my only choice if I can't find it from a friendly rider on the forums. I've bought from just about all the web shops mentioned here and have always received excellent service, scooterworks doesn't pass muster. Scooterworks is the Wal-Mart of scooter parts, you can't expect much. |

I was looking for new decals for my Rally and found some at Scooterworks but in the picture they look like they say "ectronic" on them instead of "electronic". I sent them an e-mail asking about them and later that night sent an e-mail to Scooters O to see if they had any. I still haven't heard from Scooterworks and have been in contact with Gene several times, he is checking to see if he can get me a set from Italy and told me that they are going to have some new ones made from the NOS ones they have but can't be used. Being totally new to Scooters I was told about Scooterworks and have ordered everything from them. So far it has just been cables and oil and a few other things but after the customer service I have seen from Scooters O they will be getting my business from here on out. I have really caught the bug and am planning on buying, tearing apart, and rebuilding a P sometime after the first of the year so I'm sure I will get to know the people at Scooters O pretty well. I'm not trying to bash anyone or be a commercial but I like when my customers tell people that my staff does their job well and I always like to do the same.
