Hi all
Does anyone use a helmet lock on their GTS instead of carrying it around with them?
If so, then any advice on which to buy and where to position on bike would be well appreciated, I was thinking of securing the lock to the D ring on the left hand underside and resting helmet on the floormat.
how you doin yours !!!

ps wish my head was smaller Crying or Very sad emoticon

There's a helmet lock built in. The post on the front of the underseat bucket will take a D-ring, and the seat locks shut on top of it.

re
The GTS has two helmet locks already,

look at the front of the underseat bucket there are two round -pegs for your d ring to fit over, then just close your seat and your helmet is locked on the scoot.

not the securest thing in the world though.

It's been known to happen. Crackheads aren't especially bright.

The only helmet that I have that will work with that peg is a shortie. The strap on the d-rings is not long enough for the ff. I could use an extender but I don't have one. I do have a helmet lock that I bought from JC Whitney that mounts to the front rack. It also is a good hook to hold the helmet when you're getting ready.

They would have to work hard to get to the strap with a cutting instrument. It is pretty tight there, at least with my Arai helmet (which I have trusted on that peg since mile one).

People don't always steal stuff that is of use to them: they often steal it because they can. I wonder how ofter a stolen stuff is found a few blocks away in a dumpster?

I agree. Came back once from a weekend in the country and parked my car on the streets of New York. Had two bags of trash in the trunk that I forgot. Sure enough, came back the next day and someone had stolen them. Maybe they just needed some extra trash but I doubt it.

Still, now I live in the south of France and I use the helmet locks under the seat of my 300. No problems yet, but if you don't attach them well they will scratch the paint.[/quote]

I heard years ago during a garbage strike in NYC during the Christmas season people would gift wrap thier garbage and put in an unlocked back seat. May have been apocryphal but sounds good.

I use a T-extension. Love it. The helmet's D ring feels way too tight for me when I try to negotiate it on the peg of my Vespa. This extension gives me lots of maneuverability.

Salima
I psoted a similar "tool" here.

Its has the potential to be more useful than the T helmet extender. I note that someone in another thread used it and said that it broke off the plastic peg under the seat. I can only guess that someone put a lot of pressure on the helmet and the leverage broke the peg. Just an FYI.

As Salima mentioned. Available pretty much at any motorcycle shop. Usually come in a twin pack for around 8 bucks.

When I was a wee laddie I parked my ancient VW bug in the streets of London and went t to an office Xmas party. When I got back someone had broken into the car, smashed the passenger window and all. Nothing was stolen; in fact, the perp left a bunch of sheet music on the back seat. The police person that showed up, Inspector Dove, or Crow or some such four-letter bird, said that the perp probably wanted and nice warm, dry cell and three squares for Christmas.
