Ok, before I start, I'm new to the scooter scene and biking.

2 Weeks ago I bought a Vespa 125 GT from a reputable local dealer, they serviced it replaced the front shock and mot'd it for me.
I was really happy and getting on with the scooter really well until tonight!!!

I heard on the way home a couple of banging noises when I hit the front break and thought nothing of it I went through the 30 zone at 30Mph and the 50 zone at 50Mph.

I arrived home and reversed the bike into the space outside my house when all of a sudden the front shock just dropped off the body and the front wheel hit the mud guard. I suspect the mechanic had not tightened the bolts on it, I was so mad !, what would have happened if it had dropped off at 50Mph on a busy road ??

What should I do? Does anyone have any advice?
The dealer picked up the bike tonight so I still have to wait and see what they say but how scary is that!!!

No you weren't just unlucky. The shop's negligence could have done you great harm. Make sure they are aware as to how you feel about this, and that they check to see if any damage was done as well as repair what they did.
After this, I'd find a different shop.

For future reference, if you hear any strange noises/vibrations/the scooter does not feel 'right', please do not ignore it. It's doing that because something is amiss.

Hi 125

Welcome to MV, and sorry to hear about this experience. As you say, very scary.

Let us know how the dealer responds. Are you prepared to name them ?

There's a few of us Tykes on here. Be useful to know who's not tightening up shocks right.

You were the opposite of unlucky, you were extremely lucky that this event didn't occur whilst you were riding.
What the dealer did was negligent. I would let them know in the strongest way possible that this was not acceptable.

By ignoring the problem, you also put yourself at risk. Part of that was your inexperience, but common-sense would dictate that if something feels 'off' you should stop the bike and examine it to see what the problem would be.

You've learned from this event, so in the end it was a good thing. Thank your lucky stars that the lesson didn't cost you pain and blood.

Aloha and welcome to the forum and yes i agree with the being lucky. Who knows what would of happened if you had been out in traffic at high speeds when this happened. I'd take it back to the same dealer (because you have to right?) but man they would get an earful. If you can take to another dealer i would. Here in the USA warranty work needs to be done by the seller's dealership but i don't know what your laws are over there, If you can change shops. They sound dangerous to me. You have some very knowledgeable folks on your side of the pond and they will direct/advise you on what to do. Good luck.
