Just got these tires in from Motorcycle Superstore which were delivered within a few days, and that is PDQ in my book. However, they don't look like previous tires I've purchased in so much as the shape of the tire itself. To me, they look like small car tires because of their flat tread.
I did click under "scooter" and chose these since the other brands were out of stock in the 130 70 12 size.
You people take a look and let me know if you have used this type of tire, or if it's ok to use.

On the front? Not me... profile is way too flat. Might be viable for the rear of a 250.

That's what I thought also, but they are classified as rear tires. The front are much narrower. They almost look like the tires of a GoldWing, miniture style. But thanks Bubba.
Forgot to mention that they are meant for the rear. I still think they are too flat.

I agree that it looks odd for a scooter tire so I investigated just a little to see if maybe they made a mistake. it appears to be a Kenda K413 which is listed as a scooter tire. I have no knowledge of how good Kenda tires are.

That does look like the Kenda K413 and looking at some spec sheets it seems it rated as a 56J tire. 56 indicates that it is good up to 493 lbs max load but the J indicated a max speed of 62 mph which is way too low. You may want to read the side wall and see if it is indeed a 56J tire.

I guess I'll be reporting on this tire sometime in the future. I like to keep two spares on hand since these tires don't last long. And yes, they are Kenda tires, made in Tiawan, so the price was right ($26.99 ea.) but if they wear like the other $60. tires, then I'm switching to these from now on.

You're right Zinfan, there's a "56J" on it.

I wouldn't be comfortable using it then. That being said I do run a car tire on the back of my 250 but it is a T rated tire (good up to 118mph). Here is a link to tire speed ratings.

Oh and count me in the group who think that looks like a pretty flat profile for a scooter tire, it looks as flat or flatter than my car tire.

That tire is not safe to use on the MP3 250.

Just got off the phone with Motorcycle superstore and they confirmed the 56J rating saying they wouldn't be good for a 250. Back to sender forthwith!
Thanks people...Good info.

I've had good luck with the Vredestein Tornante scooter tires that can be found here

http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIRES/Vredestein/vred_scooter.htm

I have no affiliation with them just pointing out another place you may find your 130/70-12 tires. The Staccata model seems a bit too sportbike in the tread design so I went Tornante and have had no issues and they held up better than the other tires I've tried (GTS-24's and K-61's).

Glad you are sending those J tires back.

You went for the cheap, didn't you?!
62mph limit seems kinda, limiting.
It's OK for tootling around the city, I guess.

I have never heard anything bad about Vredesteins and a 58p rating for either the Tornante or Staccata is much better.

Shame about the speed rating. Would have been interested to see what kind of mileage they got.

What brand CT are you running Zin?

With the weight rating they would have worn out really quick.

Yes Sushi man, I did go cheap, but how was I supposed to know about the ratings? That's why I've got you guys. Once again, thanks, I would have hated to have found out the hard way, in the middle of nowhere where blowouts usually occur.
