Check these highway pegs out, photo hijacked from an ADV rider's day tripper post. They might be problematic in the twisties...

If they do not fold they are dangerous. I have scraped kickstand exiting a parking lot to the street. Right combination of dip in the street and it does not take so much lean.

Looks like those pegs fold up--surely they do. Crazy otherwise. That was a fun little travelogue. |

The pegs may indeed fold up (in case you didn't catch it, there is what appears to be a rubber footpeg inserted just at the leading edge of the lowered floorboard, probably to reinforce the leading edge, which has been cut away from the main metal sheet and is therefore otherwise unsupported) but in any event it won't matter since the floorboard does not, and cannot, fold. I know this not because I cannot see any hinge mechanism (although I can't), but because of the bend in the floorboard about 1/3 of the way back. That bend effectively prevents any folding whatsoever, indeed it may be there as a type of gusset to preclude folding (flexing), which I suspect would otherwise be a major issue with such a large piece of metal supported only from above. The owner of that vehicle is headed for a serious problem. Even if he does not buy a set of UFPs, I hope he reads the thread soon so he will understand the danger he is putting himself in. |

I'd assume he knows what he's doing. A lot of folks simple don't push them the way some of us do - I like leaning way too much and fast curves even more making leaning too much advisable. Catch-22 BubbaJon style But - you don't have to y'know. It's perfect;y plausible to slow down to less than 20 on a sharp turn and those things will never kiss asphalt.

That was a picture from last weekends Royal Bastard's rally. I know since I was there. I spent some time with the owner of that scoot since we have the same models. He liked my flip up foot pegs and then wanted to show me his. His are not movable, and he manages to ride his mp3 without leaning. I did warn him that it may cause him trouble down the road, but he went on a 3 hour ride last Saturday without any problems.
