Hey gang,

Just wanted to introduce my new scooter, a 2009 Vespa LX 150 with 1500 babied-miles. The previous owner (also a mv member) took really good care of her. She's truly showroom condition and needs nothing. I did the "park and look back" at the scoot today and walked into a Camry at work. The bruised knee was worth it.

Coming from an old shifty, my first impression is "wow." That's really smooth.
Like scary smooth. My ol' Bajaj Chetak will be taken to a field this weekend and shot. Or just sold on craigslist.

Anyone know of the best place for my first service? Vespa dealer, someone else? Suggestions are welcomed. Thanks much.

I'll post pics soon!

Welcome. I usually say "Welcome to the community" but since you've been riding a scooter you know what the community is all about.

Glad to see you here on MV.

I'm trying to learn how to ride a shifty.

Welcome to MV eightframes!

Before anyone can suggest where to take it, it would help to know your location. A dealer is usually the best choice ... but you never know. There may be some really good independents in your area.

Have fun with your new ride!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on joining the ranks of LX owners.

The scoot has already had at least one service, right? At that point, you can pretty much take it to the shop of your choosing. I recommend sticking with Vespa-certified mechanics and shops that can get parts and so on (so not the fly-by-night Chinese scooter shop on the corner).

For the past 3 years or so, whatever work I don't do myself is done by Aaron, aka greasy125 here on MV. He's Vespa certified and was formerly the tech at Vespa Sherman Oaks. He has his own shop but also works out of NoHo Scooters. You can shoot him a PM here or message me and I'll send his info along.

If that's a bit far, you may want to look at Vespa Southbay on Hawthorne in Torrance. I haven't used them but think several Southbay MVers do.

And if you're ever up for some group riding, check out the LA Scooter Meetup Group: http://www.meetup.com/LAScooterGroup

Congrats on the LX, great scoot!! Stop by and meet our staff in Sherman Oaks, even though your scoot probably already had its first service and you don't need anything at this time. We can at least check the tire pressure and welcome you to the Vespa family.

Drew is our service manager and Lonnie runs the showroom. Vespa Sherman Oaks is also a paying sponsor of the site here.

See you around!
