Modern Vespa

After a Honda CBR600 and an Italjet Formula 125 Twin, I have bought my first Vespa.
Its a 2006 GTS 250ie in the colour Vintage Red.
It has 14800km on the clock and has some bodywork damage from driving around on the back of a Camper.

beautiful colour you got there,as we say in England ,Ox Blood colour,nearly same as Dr Marten`s boots.

rosso vintage & black. perfect!

When you have a strech of rainy weather.... take off those side trim pieces, sand them down a bit to roughen them up, and paint those black, and clear coat them. Should only take a few days....

ohhhhhhhhh my favorite gts color.

White wall tires... Any one tried to paint them before, on your black tires.??

Mine isn't scratch free either! It has some nasty scratches on the right side and a dent on the left side. (see the pics). Maybe i'll repair it this winter.

The wheels in black? Very easy! I masked off the tires with tape, sanded the rims with some fine sanding paper (NOT too rough!) and then painted them with a spray can in satin black.
Then I disassembled the engine cover and did the same to that.
But next year I'll buy a set of MP3 500/Gilera Fuoco front wheels, that will look even better!

It has 15000km now and I have to replace the belt, the vario and the rollers. At the same time I'll paint the rear wheel and replace the exhaust gasket (19EUROS!!!! for a simple gasket!!!) because it's beginning to sound a bit too loud

The bike looks 10x better with black wheels.

Ouch! on the scrapes. About the same as mine. I love the black/red theme. Have you thought about getting the OopsClunkThud black brake levers? I might get them for mine. (See the Sponsors section here -- he's a sponsor).

I was talking to a guy at a local shop that restores Vintage Vespas, as well as working on moderns. He loves the Antique red also, and pointed me at a P200 bike he has that he said was the inspiration for the Vintage Red color on our GTS's. Here's a pic, below.

Yes, I'm also thinking about black brake levers. And Painting the bar-end weights black, once I get the chrome off.
I ordered a headlight from the GTS300 Super, think that will look great.
Will post a pic once it's mounted.

I pay 4,95 difference is there is no Piaggio on te plastic bag.
When changing the headlight,change also the bulb in a xenon. I have one, once Xenon always xenon.

I've found them in a local motorbike shop. They weren't in a package so I don't know the brand name, sorry.

But these mirrors in the link below are about the same, but you have to put them on the end of your bar-end weights:

Made some changes to the Vespa again: Malossi Vario, Kevlar belt, 13gr rollers and contrast spring.
Painted the rear wheel, bar-end weights and brake levers.
Fitted a GTS300 Super headlamp

How does the GTS300 super headlamp differ?

The only difference is the ring on the inside of the lamp.
GTS250 is chrome, GTS300 is black.

I just love the dark look of the headlamp.

Ditch that aftermarket belt and put a OEM Piaggio belt back on. Aftermarket belts have proven time and time again to fail at 1/3 of a Piaggio belt life. IMHO you are looking for trouble. When it locks the rear tire up at 65mph you will be asking yourself why.

Love what you are doing to your scoot. I'm more of a shiny fan, but the black/deep red is a very nice combo. Should be good when you get the panels sorted. But I've found over the years crash bars are a real panel saver. What would they look like in satin black on your bike. cheers and welcome. Gass. GTS 250 Silver machine.

Have been thinking about painting the wheels on my vintage red 250 for a while now, and seeing yours has convinced me that I want mine vintage red, not black! Thanks for resolving that for me.

But I will have a silver strip around the rim.

I think your GTS was my inspiration! Ifound a small picture of it on google and loved it.

The horncover DOES look nice, but first I'll do the Fuoco/MP3 500 Wheels and a PM80 Scomadi exhaust.

wow that's photo it's from a year ago or more. i change the yoshimura exhaust for a two brother exhaust.i will be waiting for the modifications that you are going to do in your gts.i will be waiting for the pics.

A few months ago I got my Scomadi PM80 exhaust, and last week I put the Fuoco/MP3 500 wheels on.

But lately the gts didn't go top speed anymore, it only went to 130kph on speedo.
Opened the variator case and saw that the "fan" opposite of the variator had grooves in it.
After putting a new one in from Sip-Scootershop with 14 gram weights (I have the white Malossi contrast spring) the GTS accelerates full throttle at +- 8200rpm and goes to a top speed of 150kph, without hitting the rev limiter.

So maybe 13.5gram would be perfect for me.
13gram = best acceleration but rev limiter at 145kph (9000rpm)
14gram = slightly slower accel. but 150kph and no rev limiter

Even zoeken in de shop naar Vespa, GTS & 250cc. Dan krijg je een hele lijst met verkrijgbare onderdelen en nog enkele andere uitlaten.

Maar je kan hem ook bij sip-scooterschop krijgen, maar ik denk dat hij daar iets duurder is.
