I've found the GTS seat uncomfortable on 2 hour + trips. Beaded seat cushions, sheepskin, or an airhawk cushion (what I use) can help. With stops to work out the kinks, and staying hydrated, no problems.

It's funny, even though I've been following this thread and commented in it already, whenever I come across it on the thread list I misread the title as
"realistic time travel?" and get excited. ![]() carry on |

I just did a trip to the White Mountains in NH. about 300 miles as well.
Beautiful country we live in ! I can say you probably will want to stop every hour or so. You'll be re-hydrating, peeing, chatting it up with park rangers, "State'ies" and Harley riders and answering a lot of questions about your scooter. If your don't want to stop then just take a car imho I found everyone to be extremely friendly and chatty from groups of Harley riders to state troopers. Note to self: If your going on a toll road make sure you have exact change in an easy to reach pocket... Dont piss off drivers behind you by taking off your gloves and getting undressed in order to pay the toll |

I'm glad you're keeping the ET... their design is very unique amongst the modern Vespas. I think a long way down the road they'll stand out for that (in a good way). |

The trip is officially off.
I was doing a pre-trip inspection and noticed that the fuel line is cracked and brittle. That's a show stopper. I'm super bummed. I was really looking forward to the ride. 85 and sunny all the way. Was going to leave at 4 am in order to time it right--there's no way I can leave after the auto stores open in the morning. Ugh. |

I keep reading this thread title as relativistic time travel.
I suggest you build a time machine and go back a week and replace your fuel line. |

That is a bummer for sure.
I feel your pain...I've had to cancel a couple of trips I was really looking forward too (Amerivespa, for one) after having made my preparations and getting psyched up to go. In my case, it was scheduling problems. It's probably a good thing to mention at this point: Back when the only Modern Vespas available were ET's, the deteriorating fuel line issue was well known and widely discussed. The subject has pretty much faded in the background since then. In short, if you have an ET and the original fuel line is over a year old, and they all would be by now, you should replace it with something better/newer. You made the right choice, though. I once went on a tour with a rear tire that was a bit iffy. Two days out I got a chance to try out my AAA motorcycle service. Get a new fuel line and find some excuse to ride somewhere. 8) |

Certainly this one has been replaced at some point--not sure though, it was my father-in-law's for the first 6 years.
It's a Gates hose. Really bummed by it. The thing is, I had an annual service done as well as a carb scrub in May--I would have thought they would have noticed it when they removed and attached the hose. I've barely used 2 tanks of gas since the service. |
