Hi all,

I moved a couple of months ago, and haven't gotten a chance to ride my scooter in that time (2007 Vespa 250 GTS). Today I go to ride, try to get it started...and nothing.

Here are some details:

- The engine will try to turn over, but it won't catch.
- I have plenty of gas.
- It's about 80 degrees outside, but it hadn't been running previously
- the headlight comes on, and doesn't dim when I try to turn over the engine.
- flicked the kill switch back and forth, no workie

Suggestions on what to do next?

Also...this is the second time I've had scooter FAIL in the past year. Last summer, it wouldn't start, and 2 trips to the shop resulted in them replacing the battery twice and the regulator (?). I'm beginning to wonder if modern Vespas are just cursed.

When was the last time you rode? If it was more then 2 weeks the battery maybe dead. If thats the case you just need to charge the battery and your good.

If the engine is turning over:

Step 1 - check for spark.

Step 2 is fuel delivery.

First, I would check to see if my sparkplug cap has come loose.
Then, I would get a battery tender & charge the battery. I think it's a good idea if the scooter's been sitting for more than a couple weeks at a time & after a couple months it's probably discharged between 20% (maintenance free) to 60% (refillable).

I vote battery and you should keep it on a trickle charger. That said that's an awful lot of batteries to go thru. I still think you have something draining your battery. Are you sure they did the work they said they did?
