When I took my 500 in for her service a few days ago, I forgot to mention to the guy that that wheel lock warning light comes on occasionally when I'm riding the scoot (actually moving). The previous owner told me that it happened once in awhile, but she would just thumb the release button once, it would go off, no problem.

However, it's happening more often now (after a week of riding); should I be concerned? A few times it's gone on when I am sitting still with the wheel lock engaged--that REALLY makes me nervous! I don't want my scoot to tip over!

Should I take it back in again? Or is there an easy fix/answer to the problem?

Thank you!

they should have caught that after they did the service and did a test ride. could be a broken wre down at the bottom of the front wheels on the sensor. just look at the insdie of the wheel and you can see wire going to a sensor.

My switch sticks often, not in the actual operation mode but just enough to keep the light on. I usually notice it while I'm riding and the cure is as you would expect, just move it a bit further to the neutral position. The wheels won't lock while you're in motion. If you want it to be perfect your dealer can probably adjust it for you and at the same time relieve you of a bit more cash.

One of your speed sensor cables is probably failing and when it finishes failing you will not be able to lock the tilt.

A number of us here have had a cable fail. Not the end of the world, just have to use the center stand. After getting used to the tilt lock the center stand is a bit of PIA though.

Does it ever fail while the bike is unattended, so that one comes back to see their beloved MP3 lying on the ground (gawsp!!!).

No. The tilt lock once engaged stays engaged - it needs to be deliberately powered to go OFF before it will. The suspension locks could potentially (but very unlikey to) fail - but that rare possibility wouldn't let the bike fall over. It's actually a very well thought out design.

Whew! Ok, that's a relief. I'm going to have her looked at soon, though. She's my baby. Razz emoticon

Not sure if the wiring for the tilt lock is different on the 500 vs the 250 but on mine (a 250) I've had both wires fail (break at separate times) and depending on which side it was it will also cause your speedometer, temp, and odometer readings to remain un-changed.

The purpose of the speed sensor interlock to tilt lock is to keep one from engaging lock with the MP3 moving.

Tilt lock light coming on

Check your battery cables and make sure they are on tight. It's happened to me twice.

One of ours is coming on too, and it seems that sensor mentioned earlier looks a little beat up. Has anyone replaced one? Is that do-able for most people?

I was on vacation for a couple of weeks - so bike sat. When I got back last week the warning light came on. I have been trying to figure out what and lo and behold I finally come to the forum and found this without searching.

So I want to check the speed sensor and could use a description as to where I can find it. I am forced to use the center stand most of the time and is a PITA.

Thanks,

Dale

there are 4 solutions for the red warning light

1 a faulty switch replace or clean it if you can lock after pressing the switch a couple of times it is the swichts this will happen when the switch get realy wet

2 the speedsensor isn't working right loose connection dirt or it got wet

3 these things got wet or dirty, then it won't lock also dry or clean them

4 its your seat sensor bypass it or get a new seat
