Hello folks, sorry that it's been a long while since my last visit, unfortunately business has got in the way of pleasure for the last 12 months.

The good news is that I'm still riding and enjoying my white/red GT250RS, the bad news is that I'm also still missing the GrantourismOrange and not just because of the awesome jelly bean colour. For some reason or another i seem to feel that the 125 carb was a much nicer bike to ride around town than the 250efi, maybe just because it had a more progressive response to the throttle. Not by much, but enough to notice a subtle difference and overall smoothness with the carb 125. Yes, the 250 is much faster with an extra 10hp on tap, but apart from the traffic light GP starts and better into-wind performance there was surprisingly little between them around town.

The good news is that the young man who bought the 125 from me still has it and still loves it as much as i did. I do know that he had a minor "off" after the first couple of weeks riding (apparently the hedge came off worse than the scoot!) but no major harm done and an easy blow-in on the front mudguard. With a bit of luck he might find his way on here sometime in the future and continue the saga with some more jaffa-tales?

Thanks to everyone for your continued positive comments, they are very much appreciated even though we are three years (!) down the road. Where did those years go? I'm still playing with my GT250RS, only last week i had the front end apart fitting a new speedo cable and indicator switch (oh, yes, why does the GTS speedo always over-read by 50%???) and this weekend I'm removing the 2T 50cc from my daughter's LX50 and fitting a 4T 125....

Well it's been a half year since Mr 'meister posted, I hope he isn't bored with scooters already. Of course it really IS winter where he is.

I never thought I'd be hanging on like that, looking for next progress on a modern CVT Vespa, but this man's resources & own abilities were a tour de force anyone can enjoy. I probably wouldn't even have looked if I hadn't seen that another shifty guy posted here & now I see why he did(tnx V).

But I REALLY posted up here to ask Mr 'meister if he's considered getting an older, 'classic' Vespa and doing what he did here to it? I would enjoy that a LOT and so would Mr 'meister, I believe.

Thanks for that, it does helps when you have the facilities and staff on hand to help with the preparation & painting. I don't get involved with the day-to-day hands on work in my business as someone has to steer the ship along and that's me, hence this kind of work is a nice distraction and helps relax my head from the stress.

To answer your question, I did look at buying a 1960-1966 large frame at one point and nearly bid on a couple of project auctions but stopped myself at the last minute. In retrospect that was a sensible move on the grounds that i still have a motorcycle in pieces in my garage and lots of GTV250 & lx parts lying around that i must offload first, aside from the wife questioning my sanity.

The trouble with my job is that the buck stops dead with me, so I had no choice other than to knuckle down hard when the going got tough, but thanks to hard work from the team things are looking up I'm pleased to say. I can see little else other than work for the next 6 months, but once this settles down I intend to first finish my 250 engine tuning project that I began before tackling other toys.

See you all soon, I promise.
