New purchase and I am new to Vespas. Been around VWs and motorcycles 40 years. Purchased from a guy who no longer rode it. He bought it in San Francisco. I will look for the paperwork that came with it later. Looks a little bodge-y due to the tail light, colors and poor quality paint, but passes the magnet test on all panels, and floor board is the factory color(kinda blue-silver) on the bottom with no damage visible there! everything works. Trans drips when parked but not badly. It was purchased for my wife to ride around our little town. The bike rides ok, shifts and stops well, solid feel to 50 mph etc. Came with a service manual. Meantime give me your thoughts! I have learned a lot thru this forum but add anything you can think of for me to check for. Thanks Scooter
Questions, as I think of em
1-All turn signals opperate but indicator stays on solid on the speedo, Im thinking flasher?

There aren't too many P series bodges coming out of Vietnam, but I have seen a few from Indonesia. I can't confirm that this is one of them. It may also be the good ol' AmeriBodge.

It looks to me that someone was trying for the "vintage" Vespa look and doesn't really scream "bodge" to me.

Poor taste in the 2 tone, chrome, awful seats, etc. make it look like a bodge, but to me it was just a bad way to make a P series look "vintage". Leave the P what it is or cut that fucker down to a racer!

Putting the correct bench seat on it will make it look 75% more un-bodgelike.

I too am not fan of the "vintage" seats and would much rather have a stock bench seat. Not a fan of the 2-tone paint either but lots of P-series seem to go that route so it's not that bad as long as it doesn't bother you. Is the frame's paint original? It looks kind of "pearly" to me. It would be easy enough (and not too expensive) to repaint the front fender, cowls, headset and horncast to match the frame. Throw a real P tail light on there (Euro or US market) and aesthetically you're done

The frame color is not original, its a pearl white metallic. I think the factory color was the silver blue that the wheels are. I think the seat may change to a bench, we`ll see. Oddly the taillight is my favorite "mod" As long as my wife likes her scoot and rides it Im ok with the colors etc.
