I saw this Goldwing with a fully enclosed sidecar at the beach, yesterday.

I was really kind of stunned, because the pillion seat is all set up with armrests, and all, so how many ride on this beast? And if you need a fully enclosed sidecar for the extra person, aren't you getting awfully close to really needing a car?

On another note, this vehicle was really nicely done with matching luggage racks on bike and sidecar, and enough chrome to affect the stock market. Then, after I had quit gawking, and had walked away, I saw the owners return to their vehicles. Two humans, 3 dogs. That beast is a pet carrier on steroids!

Nope, it's a trophy.

The mere fact that it is being carted around on a trailer bears witness to the reality that it is far more just something to show off rather than a practical means of transport.

That's a Hannigan sidecar. They make a good rig. A lot of people tow them behind their RV's and use the rig to get around town or take short trips while the RV is parked at an Rv park.

That's the case here. That trailer is attached to a monstrous class A motorhome.

No doubt true, but that doesn't change my assessment that the rig is really more of a trophy than anything else. Once a motorcycle has been morphed into a monstrosity like the Goldwing and hitched to a fully enclosed sidecar of overly ample proportions, practicality is no longer the driving consideration, and showing off is the name of the game. MHO.
