acheap way is to remove the very restrictive air box and install a aftermarket air filter. This lets it Breathe so much better.
Also install the Fuzzy washer with the Dr pully sliders and you will see a better improvement. You can also go from the stock 2mm and 1mm washer to a total of 4mm which some folks like as well.
Well, I won't remove original airbox because I have to ride in any weather.
I agree with Mr. Dirt. With stock set up I got a lot of water in my air box riding through puddles. A rear hugger made a huge improvement and also makes filter replacement doable for all weather.

It is possible to have a K&N filter that is for all weather riding. I rode with this one in rain that was measured in multiple inches per hour and several inches of flooding on the streets I was riding through.

There are several threads with different takes on how to accomplish this. Here is mine. Failed Air Filter Mod - Success a week later
OK, I do understand, but I believe that airbox mods are dangerous when riding in rain. I've seen one engine damaged by water...

P.S. I have no water in my stock airbox after a ride in a rain.

Pleeease?
Absolutely.

Paypal $15 each to jon@rezolutionphoto.com
Use the Friends and family option along with use bank account so I do not get charged fees - This is different from when you could just pay as a gift and not incur fees. Avoiding fees on my end pays for postage anywhere world wide. IF that is not an option then add $1 for the first washer and .50 for each additional.
IMPORTANT - send me an email with MV name, real name and properly formatted mailing address. Please use email as PayPal notes runs it all together and it has caused problems. I really do want you to get your Fuzzy Washer.
I still have some of he decals that I made so an order will also contain a Fuzzy Washer decal.

Anywhere on the planet that has a postal system.
Just make sure to send me an email after ordering with your name and properly formatted mailing address - Paypal mangles the notes so bad I can't tell if I have it right or not.

I see last posting was May of this year, so just wondering if you have any left and how do I get one?
I do use pay-pal, so do you just send me an invoice?
I do not have a bike yet, I am in Ireland and they are like hens teeth here, but do have one lined up in the UK and hope to collect soon, and I feel I would like the extra acceleration but not to loose a fistful of top speed so I reckon one will be enough??

Plan to fit sliders, (hope that's the right term as not used to cvt as coming from a 1986 Harley FLSTC) and Dr.Pulleys 17g seem to be the way to go, but what make belt do you recommend?

Thanks,

Tony.

I've got 17g DrP's, and lost top speed although the acceleration was great. I even had to take out the Fuzzy washer to get a bit of the top speed back.

I'd recommend 19g to attain good acc. with no loss at the top end, and a Fuzzy washer would be fine with that.

Thanks for that jimc, all input welcome to a newbie.

Just have to wait and see if BubbaJon has any washers left!!!!!!

If he hasn't, what weight would you suggest?

Also, the DrP's seem quiet expensive here, (well in Germany as that is the only place I can find them), so would you suggest anywhere for me to source them?

Cheers.

Tony.

SIP is the place I go to for them. They aren't cheap, but they do last for ages - no flat spots to worry about.

+1...

FYI, I put 18g sliders in my 500, and 19 in my wife's thanks to Ponydrvr's help over the past few weeks...now, each has a Fuzzy washer, LV 4Road exhaust and Ponydrvr's airbox mod--so the only appreciable difference (other than the color) in performance parts/mods is the slider weight.

I honestly haven't noticed a difference in top-end speed between either scoot (I've ridden both extensively over the past week). I dare say the 18g give just a hair's breath better performance/smoothness on acceleration, but it's so subtle as to be just as likely the result of psychosomatics as it is actual performance.

We did determine that at 60 mph, my scoot with slightly lighter sliders was 200 (or so) rpms higher than my wife's at the same speed, but I'm also heavier than her, so take that for what you will.

I think Jim's got great advice for you--I doubt you'll lose much you'll miss going with 19g sliders unless you're just desperate to get every last ounce of top end from this little engine; but you WILL definitely notice a difference with the Fuzzy washer and lighter sliders; even my wife noticed the change right off the bat and agreed it was for the better.

Thanks to all for interesting info.

Will take Jims advice and use 19g sliders. Fuzzy washer ordered, so looking forward to getting bike and "playing"...........

After riding a classic Harley for 8 years or so, I wanted something a bit different and think this will fit the bill perfectly.

Cheers for now,

Tony.
