...involves negotiation with the chap who owns all this mess:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270626075221&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Apparently it's a rot-free sandblasted frame, a running leak-free motor, and 3 boxes with the complete rest of the scooter in. I may need my head read, but it could also be a very satisfying folly what's also good is the seller is only about 30 miles away as opposed to the usual 300+ whenever I see a scooter I like

I'll try, lads...and if I succeed, I will try even more (your combined patience). I can turn a spanner and have successfully wrenched on 70s and 80s cars so am fairly confident I have the ability; just expect frequent posts asking 'what the hell is this/what does it doooOOOoooo?' Laughing emoticon

that has to be the most well-organized basket case I have ever seen. Maybe throw a kit on it while the motor's out.

That looks pretty darn minty...he's already done the "hard" part (bodywork/paint). My only reservations would be whats under the paint and if there are any missing parts.

If he has a photographic essay on the bodywork and a parts list then the only remaining question would be on price. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted!

The black '76 didn't work out, unfortunately. On the upside, I seem to have bagged a complete, registered and running green '79 instead. More details to follow when I get my arse back to Germany - at the moment my arse is quite happy on Tenerife. Bloody ebay - at the same time I bagged a '78 Opel Kadett for my wife - did I say I needed my head examined?

I'm pretty happy at the prospect of MY scooter...just what I wanted really! More details in a week or two - in the meantime, back to sun, sangria, and sandy bum crack

Cheers Ebeth - sadly the black one was too much for me to swallow, cost-wise. For EUR25 less I got a complete running 50 Special....in greeeeeeen

It has dents and shit, but it works. I'm still excited, but not so much that I want to cut my holiday short Clown emoticon

Thanks man! Collection on the weekend...yes, fucking miles away Laughing emoticon

Didn't 'need' it...but I did want! And that should temporarily complete the collection; we're a couple with very little parking space and no garage, the combination of modern car/old car and modern scoot/old scoot should be enough to keep me occupied for now Laughing emoticon
