Was wondering what others think about changing the original color on a Vintage ride. Not talking about something valuable such as a GS etc but your run of the mill Vespa.

Mine was originally that light blue and am thinking about either white or a off white/cream with brown or tan seat, possibly even red seats. Opinions?

OG paint in good condition can potentially be worth more.

But if it were me, I'd repaint, especially since it isn't a GS. It's your scoot and you should enjoy it.

Also, it doesn't sound like you are planning too whacky a color scheme, so I'm doubtful it will devalue the bike too much if you choose to sell down the road.

My vote is go for it

I don't have a problem with repainting a scoot, original or not.... rare or not. As long as you're ok with what it does to your investment.

$2500 scooter + $1500 paint job = $2000 scooter (possibly).

I will say that unless you want people assuming it's a bodge, stick with an original paint code, and stock color seats.

Yup, I'm a strong believer in doing what you want to your own property, just was curious what the community felt about color changes in general.

The bike has been repainted a horrible dark blue...this appears to be the only repaint that it's ever gotten, and it looks like it was done with a spray can! Makes me gag, but it gave me the warm fuzzies that this wasn't a bodge.

I know what you mean about putting too much money into a paint job only to end up actually devaluing the scoot...that's why I want to keep it a simple one tone, and something fairly innocuous like white or cream. The only appearance mods I would consider would be a Red/White/Green stripe on the left side of the legshield (I'm a dago so I have the "right" to fly my colors LOL)

I'm going to ask you for the first last time, get out of my head!

Am planning on getting one of those winged badges to go over the small "P" on the legshield beneath the headset.
