You may have seen the Allstate adds. Here is a behind the scenes video.

Look at what happens to the bikes and please ride safe.

Watch the road rash video too.

I'm feeling several conflicting emotions over this.

1) Pretty cool to see how they composed the shots.
2) I'm sad to see what appears to be good looking bikes junked for no good reason.
3) If I had Allstate insurance, I would be annoyed to think this is what my premiums were paying for.

I believe Allstate's intent is to be thought provoking as to what happens when a rider is part of the scene and do so with out a gory video.

Some insurance companies believe this type add is good business as if it makes people ride safer their claims will go down. Of couse the individual who rides safer may save a lot of pain.

Is this the "Road Rash" video you were talking about in the first post?

i don't watch tv, and am happy to miss the commercials. (even the good ones!). fortunately Internet Friends will share the best of the lot! (passing this one on!)

I have Allstate and what people should know is that despite the implication of the ad, you must request the additional coverage for personal injury. Something many agents don't tell you (mine didn't) as that actually is the most expensive payout for the insurance company.

As a newbie-scooter rider, words cannot express how much I hate/am terrified of this video! OH GOD!!!!

I've seen those Allstate commercials a lot on TV too... They scare the crap out of me. But lemme tell ya what, they keep me vigilant too.

That's a good thing. Accidents can and do happen.

Then remember to:

Ride within you skill level.

Don't Overdrive your headlamp

Don't speed excessively

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.

Watch for on-coming traffic to your left front, between 9 and 12 on a clock dial.

If you not feeling well, don't ride.

Speed and alcohol are the two biggest things within YOUR control.

Dress for the crash not for the ride.

oh yeah... I just remembered... Ride you Own ride.

This mean when you go out riding with a group, or just your friends, don't try to keep up with Speed Racer. When you are riding outside your comfort and skill level is when you are likely to have a mishap.

As you ride, you will know what your limits are. I know I didn't want to ride on the freeway when I got my bike. I didn't ride on the freeway for several months after getting my bike. I started by riding one or two miles and then I used surface streets. I worked my way up as my skills and comfort levels improved. This spring I rode an 800 mile weekend trip, mainly on freeways.
