While my g/f behind me.... one idiot managed to cut me off without even looking in the mirrors or turning head and another one almost T-boned...it was green light I was going though an intersection and this moron did not stop at the red light...missed me by few feet.

What in the world are those people thinking when they get behind the wheel of a automobile?

And why they never cut me off or run a red light while I am on my truck?

Now I have to sit home at 100 degree weather because its just not worth it being out there on 2 wheels.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. But it looks like karma was on your side. No reason to park it. Looking at it one way, you had a great day riding, you didn't get hit.

Well, it is certainly your call, but that is not my choice. I ride defensively, I wear gear, I pick my routes carefully; but I certainly don't stay home because other drivers out there are flakes.

There's definitely something "in the water" these past few days. I've been riding daily - here and there - and I've nearly been smacked every. single. time. I've gone out.

I didn't post about it because I'm not one with much of a penchant for the dramatic, but it was enough to rattle my cage (excuse the pun) pretty good a couple mornings ago.

As much as I've bitched about my two new GTS 250's being in the shop with dead fuel pumps, the silver lining is that I was in my car yesterday morning when I was rear-ended at a stop light by a girl who was texting.

Scooting in Atlanta has taught me that my scooters are magic in that they make me completely invisible, and that every other driver is trying to hit and kill me. Not trying to be dramatic. That's just the best mentality to have when riding exposed on two wheels.

The flip side is that I've been able to avoid accidents on my bike that I would've never gotten out of had I been in a car and takking up the full lane.

Yet another reason to live in North Eastern North Carolina. The traffic is light. There is always an escape route.

Having said that, I must share this: about nine years ago my GF was rear-ended whilst at a light. The woman who hit her jumped out of her car, rushed up to my GF, gave her a big hug, said, "I am so sorry", and burst into tears.

Makes them the perfect get-away vehicle, second only to a fire truck. (See "Go To Blazes" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056032/)

Wait up, how come we still get stopped for speeding?

I glanced in my rear-view yesterday and saw a girl in her car about a FOOT behind my Vespa... She became impatient and passed me on the right (almost on the sidewalk). She gave me a dirty look as she passed.

The speedo said I was going 50. The speed limit was 40...

She turned right about a quarter mile ahead.

Now I know where she lives...

The thought of setting her car on fire crossed my mind, but I don't want to make a victim of this idiot...

Curse you, high road!

Maybe they can't see you? Visibility is everything.

In a perfect world all car drivers should ride a bike/scooter for a while even as a pillion to see what we all see. I know for a fact that I am more of an aware car driver since being on two wheels.
My personal gripe is roundabouts here in the UK, not getting cut up as such but cars pulling out in front of me at the next exit as I pull out of my exit.

Same here. I ride defensively and have had quite a few incidents where I was able to move into the far portion of my lane and avoid being hit. I have gotten pretty good at the swerve while honking maneuver.

Hope you were not hurt badly, but just enough for a greedy, terrible trial lawyer to get you a generous settlement!! Any update on the scoots?

If the driver bothered to check her mirrors or turn her head, she would definably be able to see me, i never ride in the blind spots.

And the 2nd person drove through a red light, what that has to do with me being visible? I certainly do not carry a Christmas tree with lights on my vespa.
