I just posted a message in General Talk forum but I wanted to recap here. I went looking for a replacement pivot hinge and rivet to repair my old helmet for use as a spare. HJC said I needed to go back through the dealer - New Enough Motorcysle Gear. Even though the helmet was purchased over a year ago and out of HJC warranty New Enough is sending me a pre-paid label to send it back and then they will give me an in-store certificate for the full price of the helmet! Awesome customer service in my opinion! They also support MV - you can check a box and they will make a donation. Give 'em a shot next tim eyou need something - they have ridiculously low prices on HJC helmets BTW - they can't advertise them and it's no gimmick - my new Symax II was $50 below ANYONE else.

Curious to know if it was a SymaxII you needed the part for.

I just had my SymaxII latching mechanism break/fail (hung closed and wouldn't open) on Monday, ordered a new one Monday evening from NewEnough and it was delivered to my door before lunchtime Wednesday.

I'm definitely sold on NewEnough, but I'm less than happy with HJC as this helmet was less than 2 years old. That said, however, I'm a creature of habit and otherwise like the SymaxII, and that's why I got another.

Yeah - it was a real piddly part. If you look on the inside-sides where the inner visor pivots at the end you'll see a little white ring. That is actually on a plastic post that's on a black rectangular piece of plastic held on by a rivet that passes from the outside under the chin piece hinge. The rivet popped off, the plastic piece fell down and the white ring disappeared. While I was looking for it, I took the liner out and noticed a crack in the helmet foam lining. That was enough for me to contact HJC and then on to New Enough.
I also bought a replacement Symax II - I'm just real happy with the way it fits, the noise level is acceptable and it has the features I care about.
I'm with you on the quality issues though - I would think for the price point they would A) build it better (think finish not flimsy or unsafe) and B) warranty it longer (seems that 1 year is their warranty).
My new helmet doesn't have quite the nice finish as my first one - like the top vent isn't quite flush - and I've had one issue with an interior liner snap (tight fit). They do say that the helmet hinge should be replaced every 2 years or if the visor ratcheting gets "soft" - but I've not heard about the latch itself - mine has worked flawlessly.

I think the point Jon wants to make is how great the service is at New Enough. I've done several transactions with them and they remain at the very top of my vendor list. When push comes to shove in the arena of biker commodities (clothing, parts, etc) every dealer starts out on a level playing field and they are without fault.

The difference between the money grubbers and honest dealers soon becomes transparent. As an example consider the recent tire fiasco witnessed by all who ordered tires from a certain "superstore" of motorcycle items. Because of their greedy marketing tactics they attempted to pull the wool over the eyes of innocent & trusting customers. Rather than admit they were off base they dodged and avoided answering or owning up to their responsibilty to their customers for weeks on end. In the end it may not have been their fault but the point is the difference in customer support becomes evident.

Companies like New Enough should be supported by us as they never let us down.

Thanks Jon, it needed saying.

Two of my jackets and my daughter's jacket all come from New Enough. They are my first choice vendor. They also have great deals. I got my Joe Rocket leather jacket that I wear riding in the winter for $99.
