Modern Vespa

Riding home today from work, 55 mph at the merge of my entrance to NJ Parkway when a "DUM" pigeon decides to fly! This entrance is just under an overpass that the pigeons collect, and this one sitting on the curbside. With about eight feet before leaning into the curing ramp entrance, the pigeon takes flight in my path at chest height. At the corner of my eye, spotting this, back off the throttle some as it flutters dead center in my windshield path. WOMP! Noticing it did not clear my windshield and sat momentarily on the shield, I ducked my head down expecting the final fling over. Womp on my helmet head. About five miles down the parkway at 70 mph, is when I took notice of my laminar lip gone! Summinzing the birds wing perfectly slipped up under the laminar lip, which gave me a moments notice to duck my head, before the energy mass was enough to pull the velcro tabs off with the laminar lip. Now honoring its sacrifice, and deserving an iron cross award! Windshield is looking ok, nothing noticable now, as far as any stress cracks.
