http://www.modernbuddy.com/forum/topic16277.html

this was my original post from 8/9 on Modern Buddy. I was doing some follow up and browsing youtube, came upon this video. Same type of scooter, same loose fitting chain, close proximity to mine, and only 6 days apart. This shows how a loose chain can by bypassed in less than 3 minutes. I'm following up with Metropolitan Police to find if there is any connection in the thefts. Take the extra time to diligently lock up your ride.

Why did the chain not go through the front wheel? Unbelievably sad video to show thugs getting a bike like that in BROAD DAYLIGHT.

I would think you may also have a legitimate beef with the owner or property managers of the apartment complex. It looks pretty unsecured when the kid magically appears on the side of the camera, inside the fence. Where did he get in?

What did the property managers say about this video?

It looks like they didn't put the steering lock on , or put the chain through the wheel.
While I have sympathy for the owners, this looks like it was entirely preventable

Sorry for your loss. I hope with the tape, you can get a quick settlement. I would guess that even if you got the scoot back, it would have to much body damage to make it cost effective for the insurance company to get fixed.

I wonder if a GripLock would have made it harder to steal? I recently won one at a scooter rally. I have no ties to manufacturer.

I looked into getting a disc lock but I didn't want to deal with a the potentially hot and dirty dick and fitting a lock to it. I also didn't want to find out what happens if your forget to take the lock off the disc.

just to clear it up, this wasn't my scooter being taken, just very similar cirumstances, a few days apart and in close proximity to me.

The wheels on the buddy don't have big enough openings to run a chain through. You can run it through the fork though.
