Ok, so here we go........

After spending time working on my sons ET4 and finally accepting that it's time to quit the motorbike (medical reasons), my Wife and I sat down to enjoy a nice quiet bottle of white. Several glasses later I spotted a rather nice looking GTS250ie on eBay with only one bid and not meeting its reserve.

So............................ (long story short) my 'lets just have a play' bid ended up the winner (only £50 above reserve).

Full of trepidation and not really sure of what I'd done, I arranged to travel via train to somewhere between Redhill and Catterham. Bought ticket on line for a single train journey (2 changes and the grand cost of £5 less internet discount=£3.75 for the journey-- Mega Bargain).

Everything went well, lovely family selling and , wow what a bargain, it really was in much better condition than the item description suggested.

One owner from new, regularly serviced and only 4000 miles.

Journey home was interesting ( the wettest August day for years), probably could have done it by Jet Ski. Laughing emoticon

Anyway, I have posted below some photos, my daughter even enjoyed going on the back, something she'd never done on my Vstrom.

Congrats on your new purchase, that's a smart looking scooter!

Bought both of mine on eBay, fortunately without any issues. Both were, however, cash on collection and for sure I'd have been telling the sellers where to go if either had been "not as described" Razz emoticon

Best,

Mark

My wife left me at home with the flu with a 101 degree fever once.

Left to my own devices, I bid on a salvage GTS three-quarters of the way across the continent. Needless to say, I won the bidding.

She tries not to leave me at home when I'm sick now.

Congrats on the purchase! Drunk bidding can be a dangerous game, but it looks as though you made out like a top. Sorry to hear a medical condition caused you to have to abandon your Suzuki, but I can safely say that you will - without a doubt - have an even better time on your new Vespa, if for no other reason than that you can enjoy it with your daughter.

Here's to many happy and safe miles kilometers ahead!

Re: 1 bottle of wine + eBay = New GTS250
Not quite ready to get rid of my Wee-Strom yet, but we'll see once I end up with a 300 Super. The Suzuki is the best overall MC I've ever owned, and I've had Triumphs, BMW's, many other Asian bikes, I'll hate to get rid of it but it doesn't get much ride time compared to scooters.

Great to hear how much you love the GTS after having owned/ridden the VStrom.

Cheers!

I will be very sad to see the Wee-Strom go.
I too agree, it has been the best bike i've owned and returns excess of 64mpg.

The GTS is excellent at what it's designed for but obviously can't compare directly with the Strom, chalk and cheese springs to mind.

New era, new bike.

Mind you my Wife likes going on the back of the Scoot but wouldn't even think about pillion on the Wee-Strom.

I didn't even have a bottle of wine as an excuse when I ended up with an Aprilia Scarabeo 500 after checking ebay for something (can't remember what) I was looking for to use with my Vespa 260ie GTS.

The Scarabeo was rediculously under value and in my town so I thought I'd do the guy a favor and start a bump up on the scoot. Woke up in the morning to a "congratulations, you have won ..." email.

Had to break it to my husband that I'd bought another scoot. Now if I get the Burgman sold we'll be back down to a one scoot per licensed rider in our house.
