Once again I am without scoot. I returned Baart to his rightful owner after 6 months of a great relationship. The GTS250 never ceased to impress me - again.

Tomorrow morning I'm off on another 'adventure'. I'm heading back to Northern Alberta to mine tar sands to keep us all in Go-Juice for our beloved scooters.

I'll be in and out of this place as much as I can.

Ride Safe,

Dave

I meant to do this earlier but things have been slipping my mind as get prepared to go...

Although this wasn't my Vespa (an extremely gracious friend gave me use of this beauty for 6 months) I did put a Vespa screen on it. The shop that I bought it from gave me hardware for a different screen. Although it fit OK in these pics you can see that it is sitting at a strange angle... I never noticed until I looked at the pictures. I think this might be Faco hardware...

Here's some shots of my best pal Baart on three adventures we went on:

Not to worry, I'll still be around, maybe with a bit less frequency, but I'll be around.

That's sad about Baart. Safe travels and good luck in all you do. Don't be a stranger on the forum. You can pretend you have a scooter 8) Happy trails.

Sorry to hear that work is interrupting your life again. Make sure you set some money aside every paycheck to put against your next scooter.

And sorry to see you leaving the neighbourhood. Hope you'll be back.

Take care.

Saving for a new ride is my main thrust for heading north again. What that ride will be is the question. I am determined to at least go across Canada if not circumnavigate North America in the next year or two. I know I could do it on a Vespa but also know a bigger motorcycle would be a more suitable ride for the trip - at this time a V-Strom 650 is topping the list but I would also consider (am considering) just about anything including Burgmans, MP3s etc etc etc. I've got lots of time to weigh options, test ride anbd decide.

We'll see you around the next few bends, Dave.
Don't forget to check in and wish us nice holidays and stuff. It hurts my feelings when you forget!

I'll keep an eye on your Hawaii thread Gitta!

BTW if any one is interested here are some Google Earth coordinates for the area where I'm working. This is in essence a huge mine, ore extraction facility and petroleum plant all rolled into one. I'm working on the reclamation of areas that have been mined as well as reclamation of old tailings ponds.

1) 57°0'4.68"N 111°28'45.62"W - This is the main plant area have look around and check out the photos.

2) 56°58'34.41"N 111°29'37.86"W - This is the camp I'm staying at - this one is rather small for the area at about 1500 residents. Many are twice the size. The biggest I've stayed at is 5000 residents.
