My 16 year old son got his learners permit for a motorcycle on Tuesday this week. I got him added to my insurance and that doubled it immediately. Crying or Very sad emoticon It finally stopped raining on Thursday, so he starting asking to go out for a ride as soon as he got off work. We went out, me on my Dad's VNB and Shaune on my TV175. We rode through the neighborhood at first so he could get the feel of the clutch. He's been riding my scoots for several years in the yard and the driveway so I really didn't expect any issues. There weren't any. After a few minutes, we headed out on to one of the larger streets that runs along our beach. We rode around for 30 minutes or so before I took us back home. He had a huge smile on his face and asked if we could go back out. We did just that later after dinner. And again tonight. Yeah, he's hooked.

Awesome! I'll have to wait another 16 years before I can make a similar post (we have a new 7 week old little boy at home), but I'm already looking forward to the day I can ride with him!

This is his. We finished building it a couple of years back as father/son project.

What a great Dad - an S2 TV for a first vintage scooter? Doesn't every body usually get a beat up Allstate, P125X or Li125 to start (i.e. smash up)? Very cool!

No, The Allstate is his. But it's probably the one of the nicest Allstates around, IMHO. My 14 year old daughter has already claimed the TV175. We'll see.

Congrats, and best wishes for years of happy, safe riding.

Started on my uncle's 50's Vespa myself, but it wasn't more than two or three years old at the time!

Thanks for the feedback. Some people look at scootering as contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

It's been a blessing to have this well wishes of this community during his surgery and recovery. He's a normal kid now. Well, at least health-wise. Clown emoticon Last summer we went on a long distance cycling trip where we were doing 50 - 60 miles per day on our bikes. He kicked my butt. As it should be.
