I was checking the fluid level in my radiator when I heard the screw plate fall. I tried to retrieve it with my magnetic tool, but no luck. Other than a scooter shop is there any where else I might buy this plate?

Another possibility is does any one know what is the size of the screw? Maybe I'll buy a nut, glue it to the bottom of the bracket with blue Loctite. I've found part #'s, but do not see sizes listed.

screw = 257404-3
plate = 254485-4

You can get them at any hardware store in the hardware section. I have a box of them in the basement.

Is there a correct term for the part or will the hardware guy know what I am asking for if I refer to the part as a screw plate?

They are a type of nut called a "speed nut" Take the one off the other side to match it up. Buy a few as you will probably need and use them later. When you put them on squeeze them together to make them tight. Also having a magnet on it during the install will make sure if you lose it the magnet grabs it.

Or you can find them in the hardware dept of Lowes or Home Depot. A small pack is around $1.50-$2.00.

I'm going right by a Lowes in a bit. I'll stop by and see if I can find them.

They're in the large gray chests with the pull out drawers. Ask one of the clerks who work in the hardware dept and they will point you to them.

Well, Jiminy Crickets, I got home to put the speed nut on and it was too wide to fit through the tab. I went back to Lowes this evening so hopefully I'll have success in the morning. I didn't take the other nut with me because it looks like it might be a bit tricky to get back on the tab. Here's hoping for success in the morning!
