i've been ridin a craplastic fly scooter, il bello 50cc. (sold it) and put myself onto a 79 p200e blue beauty. i'm still kind of new to this but some of the things i do know. all original, 5100ish miles, 20/20 carb, (yup that's about it) oh... and i love it. i swoon for the scoot of my dreams.

any way more serious. having a problem with my high beam. i've replaced the bulb and know that's not it. checked all of the wired connections and have probably ruled that out. besides changing the headlight switch (next up) what can i do.

i've got to go for my license soon and pretty sure i need my headlight to work properly.

please help
joedonbob

as soon as i figure out how to show you my baybay i'll just do it

Welcome Joedonbob,
Sounds like a great scoot - I love my P2. I'm not sure about the high beam myself - if the bulb is good and the connections are good my next step would be the same as you are taking and look at the switch. I'm sure some folks with better electrical skillz will chime in.

Look forward to seeing it.

Welcome, Joedonbob

Have you checked the voltage at the high and low beam terminals of the headlamp? If the high beam voltage is low, then it most likely is a problem from the switch to the connection at the bulb socket. Just slowly work your way back from the contacts in the socket to the output terminal of the switch and see where the voltage drop ends. If the voltage is low at the output terminal of the switch, then clean the switch with spray electrical connector fluid. If that doesn't solve the problem, the switch needs to be replaced.

If the voltage is low at the lamp socket and not at the output terminal of the switch, then it's a wiring problem between the two.

Straight forward circuit trouble shooting.
