Hi there

Not sure if anyone can help me after my little crash a month or so ago i've decided to try to repair most of the damage myself - i'm trying to remove the entire glovebox panel however since the crash i can't get into the glove box and i know there is a screw in there i will have to remove - is there a way to get into the glovebox without pushing the ignition key in been trying for an hour or so i don't want to just snap the door off the hinges

i tried tapping the bottom, sticking a knife in lol but can't for the life of me get the glovebox door open

thanks for any help

Did you take off all the front pieces and try and come in from the back of the glove box? I can't remember if you can get to it that way but it's worth a try. Good luck

Re: GTS Glovebox won't open
I am in the same situation shedboy. I took my scoot apart and installed a stebel horn. When I was putting everything back together I momentarily forgot to line up the glove box levers and had already tightened the screw in the glove box. I was going to unscrew the glove box screw and accidentally bumped the door shut.

I was planning on drilling a hole in the glove box to get to that screw so I could remove everything and put back correctly. I miss my glove box.

Would you or slomojoe mind sharing the way to get in by PM? Thanks.

Glove box secret
I have a 2007 gts 250 with a glovebox that I cannot open. I was changing the light bulb on the headlight and apparently something fouled the mechanism. Can someone please give me the insight on how to get it open short of breaking it? I understand and appreciate the confidential nature of this information--I don't know how to PM?

Hi sskavdahl and welcome to MV. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Unfortunately we have an unofficial policy to divulge the glovebox opening method only to verified scooter owners, because as you can imagine this info could be easily misused to break into scooters.

If your need is urgent, I suggest you go to the closest Vespa dealer/service shop with your scoot, or talk to a local Vespa rider if you can, and I am sure they will be able to assist you. If you can wait, just hang out on this board, participate in discussions, post pics of your scoot, and as soon as people feel confident you are a legit scooter owner (which shouldn't take long), they'll be happy to help. Plus, you'll make friends and learn a lot of other valuable information.

As for PMs, there is a "Messages" tab right on top of your screen, under the banner. If you click on it, you will access your inbox, sentbox (messages sent and read by recipient), and outbox (messages sent not yet read). The use is pretty self-explanatory, you can PM members from there or by clicking the "PM" tab under each post. I just sent a PM for you to test the system.

Glove box
I appreciate the confidential nature of that information. I was impressed at the toughness of the glove box despite the prying by my Stanley screwdriver. Being in Wyoming there are no authorized Vespa dealers and my neighbor down the street, who also has a GTS, after installing the turn signal buzzer, had to bust the latch to get back in his glove box, so he was unable to give me guidance. I shall attempt obtain a picture with my scooter and an antelope--that should verify my location and avocation!

Too easy! How about a pic of you riding your GTS in a rodeo outfit?

Seriously, I guess a pic of a card with your MV screen name inside the engine compartment of your Vespa would probably be convincing enough. Maybe the mods can pitch in?

Verification
Attached is a picture of my Vespa with the trunk open--with the keys in the ignition that I can push but won't open the darn glovebox. I also include a picture of my vespa with Wyoming's bucking horse logo in my convenient parking spot--not the Office space for rent in the background--area code 307--Wyoming. Grazie!

I've started my garage door opener mod to my 2007 Vespa LX 50 where I hooked up a garage door opener to my high beams.
Things were working good with a minor issue (certain times the garage door opener gets in a continuous push - which will drain the garage door opener battery so need to look into that more.)

But my main issue when I was putting my glove box back in I didn't realize the special latch that had to be in place upon reassembly. So now can't open my glovebox and tried going in from the front but can't get my hand inside enough to open it either
So with that said and doing tons of reading is this glove box trick work the same for the LX models? If so can somone PM me this? And reading this post I will also post my pic of my scooter, and the dealership I bought my scooter from is now closed (which was a 45 min scooter ride away) and the next closest dealer is 2 hour car ride away and my little LX50 would take even longer to get there.

Thanks in advance

How to open completely stuck glove box
Okay, now I'm worried. My glove box was partially sticking so I found out from friend and a slide show on here how to remove the back panel and tighten the screws to the hinge to fix the problem. Can someone PM me how to get it open if it gets completely stuck so I can't open it to remove the one screw that is inside the glove box. I've been on here and posting for a while and I even made my own YouTube video of how to remove the back panel to tighten the glove box hinges (which I am reposting here). Hopefully that's enough to show I'm a serioius Vespa Owner who is trying to learn all I can about Vespa's (I wouldn't even have thought about the secrecy of how to open the glovebox if someone hadn't posted it...I keep my registration and garage opener in here...maybe not such a great idea?).

I would appreciate someone helping me with how to do this. Thanks.

Here's my YouTube video link I posted a week or so ago (by the way, that's my wife and daughter at "Top of the World" in Laguna Beach at the start of the video. Our club is riding there this weekend):

Ok guy's - got a new 300 Super and yes the glove box won't open AND removing the left knee cover and trying to move the lever with my finger does nothing. There is NO access to the lever through the front cover either. I've messed around with this for hours, looked everywere on-line (no help)and see the only way it's gonna be done is by removing the key switch, another thing I don't know how to do. I'm guesing the dealer has some special tool to do this, otherwise I'm thinking I'm screwed. There's no way to remove the glove box panel without it being opened. I even tryed prying the dang door open. It's locked, that's for sure. Only 400 miles on this $7,000 scooter and I get this?

5,000 total trouble free miles on the 125 Vino. Laughing emoticon

A length of wire coat-hanger can be deployed to get to the latching mechanism through the left-hand knee cover.

Reading this thread with interest Popcorn emoticon

I have the same issue as Shedboy

Before I bought it, my GTS had been repaired after some right side legshield accident damage. I've assumed some of the force probably transferred to the glovebox, causing some misalignment, as I also can't open mine as it is (my fault in a way as it was the one thing I didn't check pre-sale, though I did get a great price). It is proper stuck even with key fully depressed - I can carefully ease a screwdriver in on the left of the door and try a little careful leverage, but it's definitely firm and isn't going to pop open

I plan to have the glovebox fully off to tidy some paintwork, but having watched a video of how to do this, I see one of the removal screws is behind the glovebox door, so I'll need to try Jims technique or prove my worth to Slomojoe to get the door open

If others are having problems opening the glovebox, maybe my assumption about mine being related to some panel whack isn't right?

Brown_beret7: I deem thee worthy, but alas there is no secret other than what has been widely circulated now (e.g. here).

If operating the latch from the inside does not unlock the door, then there has to be a block somewhere else, probably along the edge or at the hinges. I would suggest repeating the latch trick while someone else gently tries to pry the door open with some tool that won't mar the plastic or the paint, like a screwdriver wrapped in cloth or covered with tape. Good luck!

Good idea, if it's not too much trouble for you. No reason to force it open and risk breaking something if it's still under warranty.

Dang! One last try............

I installed a Faco windshield two days ago, it came with no directions........

I had problems with those anchors that go into the bars- I'm thinking That red plastic cap on the end came off and fell down into the latch mechanism?

I jiggled the scoot from side to side (way leaned over) Wha? emoticon like when I'm railing turns Nerd emoticon

Tried the key latch when leaned over an........ pop (she opened)

If anybody who owns a GT or GTS and the govebox won't open, email me at cliffduvall@yahoo.com. It's no big deal. No sense acting like it breaking into Fort Knox. If a thief wanted in a crow bar will do nicely. But why tear the thing up?

Stuck closed glove box on my Primavera
I was doing the LED and turn signal pod removal mods on my 2016 Primavera 150 and when I put it all back together, the glove box would not open. It's stuck closed. The ignition key switch works fine and depresses fully and I've tried prying, using wire hangers, and the suction cup grab handle suggestions to no avail.

I realize and appreciate the concern for security by posters of solutions here so could someone PM me the suggested solution please?

Perhaps somebody would be kind enough to shoot and post pics of the inside latch mechanism inside the box so I have a visual of what I'm dealing with here...

Thanks!
