I just reached 6k miles and need to get that service done.
Is anyone familiar w/ either Vespa Orlando or Jacksonville's service departments? Are they competent and professional? Etc...?
Thanks.

Is the Gainesville Vespa dealer/service shop closed? I rode by today and the place looked empty, but I saw no signs saying they had moved.

Doing the service on your own is easy too. takes around 1 hour to change belt, rollers, oil. |

I had seen the shop empty last year, but that was because they had moved.
Didn't know if it was the same again. I searched but couldn't find a thread about it. Thanks. (I've done the other service interval stuff myself, as well as rear tire change, oil change, etc.. but have read numerous postings [here] that it's best to have the service shop do the 6,000 mile one because of warranty.) |

Did you get the 3 year warranty on your GTS? The belt/roller replacement is easy to do. Plus, you get to buy tools to do the job. Any reason to buy tools is a plus.

Gainesville was part of the Scooter Superstore family. Your stores in Atlanta and Norcross did well. Peachtree didn't make the cut. My heart goes out to all that worked there.

Check out Jacksonville too. I got an excellent response from their service manager. Haven't been there yet though. Here is his email: dangallion@sstam.com
And the email he sent back to me. Quote: Hello John, Dan Gallion here. I used to be with US1 and your email made it to me from the corporate office of SSTAM. Glad to hear that you still enjoy your MP3 250 and we do the service for your bike especially at the mileage that you have on it. This is a full service including some additional items that you might not be aware of. We are aware of the steering bearing notch issue and it is VIN specific, and we do check it at the time of service. If there is an issue it will be addressed with Piaggio. You will need the following items checked and/or replaced at the 12,000 mile service. 1. Replaced - plugs, drive belt, rollers, oil and filter, hub oil - $200.00 2. Adjust - Valves - $165.00 3. Check or replace - Steering bearing check (replace if necessary) 4. Labor to do the above - $340.00. (4 hours at most@$85.00 per hour). The above costs are a worst case scenario, but we will have a better handle on the exact cost, once we get started on the bike. John, we will be happy to do the service on any Saturday that works for you. If you want to leave it, bring it in on a Friday evening and I can take you home as I still live in St. Augustine - then bring the bike back to you the next day. If you need to do this, I will be happy to accommodate. If you want to bring it in on a Saturday and wait, no problem, just time. Please let me know when and we will make necessary arrangements.
