May I introduce my self.
First of all, I have miserable English.

My name is Kjell (sounds chell, an old Viking name and means helmet).
I live in the north part of Europe; Scandinavia and Sweden.
Scandinavia is Denmark Norway and Sweden. We speak the same language.
Everyone in Sweden speak English very well except me.
I can read English but not write.
Maybe it's because of my age. 57 years old.
Now young people learn English when they begin first class at school.

I ride a Gilera Fuoco or Piaggio MP3 500.
Fuoco was not a suitable name in US.
It means "fire".

If I write an Answer or a Question, please do not comment my English.
But if it sounds funny, start an answer with a smile

Modern Vespa have helped me so much.
You people are very clever and also very funny.
Thanks for all suggestions and tips.

Sweden have a very bad climate, so I can only drive from the end of Mars to the
beginning of October. Then we have 6 month winter

My first Mp3 was a Piaggio MP3 250 cc. then the spring 2009 I change to a Gilera fuoco i.e I have ride the fuoco 10000 Km. so now need hand in the scooter to be serviced.

Welcome - just ask and we'll do our best with any questions you have. So far I find your English very good and we are usually very good at understanding the intent if a phrase is malformed. So don't worry about it!

Welcome. Just as well you can't hear us. I'm told by all my foreign friends that I don't speak English, I speak Southern . Apparently NOT the same thing. However, our written English looks about the same as the rest of the world's, so you should be good. A fun and knowledgeable group around here, I have learned a lot.

I drove through your neck of the woods a few years ago from Stockholm to Karlstad and beyond. It was summer so the country side was green and the ordered farms without the abandoned faming equipment laying around.

One event that stood out was driving through a forest to come across a set of railway type boom gates that were set some distance apart. It had been a long day with plenty of kilometres covered so the brain was not really focused.

Half way across it dawned on me that this was not a road but a military runway!! On the otherside we passed the aircraft pens, that fortunately were empty.

I understand your frustration with a 6 month winter and not being able to go out. I can ride all year round and it still never seems to be enough days.

Have you ridden the Øresund Bridge yet?

I spent a couple of years in Lund, Skane doing my MSc and working. I miss Sweden, I had an excellent time there.

(And yes I rode the Oresund bridge but with my car)

I must go to Australia, I have lot of friends who have visit Australia.
It's hot climate for a Swede but very nice. When you visit Sweden, do you only travel around in the south part? I live 30 Km north .east of Karlskoga
So you have been here, sometimes we got a small world.
Australian people are so funny. Coming up with funny comments and are always happy I have only cross the bridge with car.
I suppose my behind do not like a trip to Denmark by scooter

Not a typo - it means the month of March...

Wow! And I thought Illinois winters got bad...

The one good thing about winter is it lets you have time to tinker with your bike. On this forum, you'll find hundreds of ways to "improve" your scooter. So when you can't be out riding, you can be inside making all the changes to make next year even better!

As long as the money can keep up with all the changes you plan... Isn't that always the problem?

Psht! When I was stationed at Fortuna, ND the winter there dropped boatloads of snow. We lived in a trailer court where the trailers were on 5 foot bases and one guy had pictures where the snow was up to the roof in drifts. the average depth was 7 feet. People had tunnels between the trailers to visit neighbors. Worst snow evar. Fortuna and Minot AFB have teh dubious distinction of being the only CONUS locations where the service members are issued arctic survival gear. Ambient temp -20F (-30C) wind chill to minus 60 farenheit (-50 C). Brrrrrr. Only place I was stationed that I truly disliked - Iceland was my favorite.

Oh yes!

Everything I need to my 500 are very expensive.
I don't know why? It is only 2000 Km to the Piaggio plant in Italy

I live on a farm so I must use the tractor to Clear the Approach from snow.
Sometimes I need new Spare parts to the tractor Talk about expensive

The attached photo is what I drive in the winter for fun. In the summer it's my 1993 SAAB 900 Convertible - Sweden makes great cars - and my MP3.

welcome, i am very new this forum and to mp3 riding as well and i also have found this to be a great site as well, only had my mp 3 about 2 half weeks, i have just gotten my motorcycle edosement, the motorcycle safety program was very reward experice for me, and at age 51 that was a great thing for me. just too bad winter is just around the corner so not a long riding season for my first time on a scooter.

I bought my first MP3 when I was 53
It was a Pigggio MP3 250. Now I ride a 500.8)
Sweden looks as Canada. Only forests and long roads.
When I got the 250 and catch up a truck with lumber cargo, it was not so easy to overtake. In this country (same in nearly whole west Euorope)
I need a special licence to drive a MC or scooter with two wheels.
Three wheels and I need only my car licence. Silly
The only thing I needed to do was extend the rear indicators.

So, I guess America isn't the only place with ridiculous Motorcycle licensing. I mean, I took the motorcycle safety class, and for getting my license on the little 250cc Honda, I was able to buy a 1450cc Harley and legally ride it... Man, is there a world of difference between those two bikes...
