Is there an ACCURATE guide for placement of the various decals covering the different vintage years and models? Same question applies to the rest of the bike in general.

Not that I intend to build some world class restoration but it's as easy to install a decal in the wrong spot as the right one, so why not do it right?

Most vintage badges had locating pegs on the back that would match up with holes in the frames. Some of the earlier models have holes in the badges that would match up to holes in the frames, and rivets would be used for securing.

Do you have a specific model you have questions about?

Thanks for that...I understand what you're saying regarding the holes, but there surely will be the instance where the holes have been filled in during body repair and if made undetecable then my question rears it's ugly head again.

Thankfully I can spy where the holes were originally on my bike but would love to know the correct locations for the following:
"2% Oil"
"Made in Italy"
"Running In"
etc

Would also like to identify the correct versions of the above are for my '61 VBB1T. The serial number for this bike is lower than it should be for a '61 which makes me think it could be a leftover '60 (although it has a 4 speed). The tail by the license plate is rounded if that matters any.

The backstory to this is that it supposedly was originally sold in Australia, if true that may explain the serial number anomaly. Thanks!

You might try finding the Vespa Technica 2 book, if you are interested in doing a proper restoration. I'd also be willing to send you a couple pictures of the VBB in our Tecnica book if that would help with original placement and selection. Send me a PM with your email address, and I'll see what I can do to help.
