Hi
Have problems with stalling at idle and tried most things. One thing i have just found is that when i am revving scoot on its stand, i can feel a strong airflow coming out of the spark plug socket.
I would imagine this is wrong, can anyway let me know though. Is this likely to be connected to not being able to idle?
cheers

I believe what you are feeling is the air flow generated by the fan on the end of the crank shaft. This fan is designed to blow air over the cylinder and keep the engine cool. If you didn't feel this air flow your motor would soon over heat and be very unhappy. It's not related to your stalling problem.

You said you have tried "most things". Can you be more specific? What things have you tried so far?

Cheers Craig
Has had new belt, rollers, spark plug, battery, ht coil, fuel tap, inlet manifold, variator, carb/jets cleaned during two recent services in last 6 months. No-one can get to the bottom of it stalling when idling - rides fine when power is on though.
From previous posts i have read sounds like the autochoke could be sticking on, but my local vespa dealer thinks not?
Any ideas?
cheers

There is a simple procedure for checking the function of the autochoke in the shop manual, IIRC.

If the carb is indeed clean and the gas is fresh, I'd wager the problem is either idle air/fuel mixture and/or idle speed related. Either would cause idling problems, but not have much effect on higher-speed running.

Just a thought but when was the air filter last cleaned

It should be cleaned in a special oil available from the local dealer.

Might be worth trying to start it with the airfilter out just in case it is badly blocked.

As I say , bit of along shot but worth a try.

Oh, is it the same when you try to use the kickstart?

Managed to Kickstart it once last week, but same issue - just will not idle. Don't know about the Air filter actually, might give that a try.
cheers
