Hi guys,

I recently become in love for Vespa scooters. I like vintage things. But, because I don't want to take the driver's license for Moto, I want to buy a Vespa Scooter (50 cc). A friend of mine showed me a bargain: Vespa LX50 Adidas Limited Edition (only 30 km on it). I haven't see it yet, I will see it in few days. I searched on web about this limited edition and I found only 1 pic:

I don't know if the engine is 2T or 4T.

Also, I've thought about to buy the new version S50 4T 4V from the local dealer (I'm from Bucharest, Romania).

I know both scooters are limited at 45 km/h. From my opinion is a little too much, and I will be more happy if it can be made in a easy way to go up to 60 - 70 km/h (not more).

I don't know what to choose between these 2 models. What are your opinions?

Thank you!

Well the one in your picture is a 125...

Which i would deffo go for if i was you. Why can you not get a 125 do you have to have a full license in your country?

IMO 50cc is far too slow for the roads in the UK, can be quite dangerous tbh been over taken every 2 seconds. Not sure what the roads are like there.

Beautiful scoot in the pic tho

Yes, I need the full license, and if I will apply for it, I will definitely buy a bigger moto (Yamaha R6 or Honda CBR), and I don't want.

What will be more easy to upgrade it between LX50 & S50 (both 4T)?

Im not sure about the honda but ive heard the upgrade on the LX50 is pretty pointless. de-restricted it can do about 45mph but not too sure what other upgrades you can get.

Im sure someone will answer this for you

One has an immobilizer, While the other does not,
Frankly, I'd buy the one with the immobilizer.

As for upgrading from that, You sell it and move up,
You can't buy stuff and expect to make it go faster after you've made the transition,
Better to buy a faster scooter to begin with and leave the 50 for the kids.

Just saying.

Modded low powered scooters are really a waste of a lot of money,
Better to just buy the scooter you need.

I understand price points and such at the beginning are a drag,
But believe me, You'd be paying more upgrading to a 70cc,
Than if you'd bought a 125cc or a 150cc.

Take the time, Crunch the numbers.

The one you have pictured is the campus edition, not an Adidas edition.

The Adidas version looks like the ones below.

Here in Romania, I can't run on a scooter greater than 50 cc because I need the full driver's license (A category). I will not apply for that category. S50 has immobilizer?

Aloha and welcome to the forum. If you can get a good deal with your friends bike i wouldn't worry about the immobilizer if it doesn't have one. To be honest i don't know which one has one but the only other differences are the looks. All are 4T. I'm guessing that you can put a 70 on it but in the end you'll get a little more power but is it worth the money. I live in a state where the 50cc scooters don't need a MC license, insurance or annual registration ( a one time registration only) so i get where your coming from. If you can find a used ET2 they are a 2T and have a bit more power than the newer LX versions. I guess what it boils down to is how long will you have it. If it's not going to be for long i wouldn't spend a lot of money on it and get the cheaper one. Are you planning o getting a full license soon? Whatever you decide post some pics of what you finally get and good luck 8)

Thanks for your opinions. I don't want to get a full license so I can drive bigger moto. I will post pics as soon as I will buy it. I've searched on the web but I can't find any info about LX50 Adidas Edition. Anyway, if this deal will fall, I will buy the new S50 4T 4V.
