Hey all,
When I was riding around last weekend I noticed my speedo on my PX wasn't registering anymore. When I got it home I inspected it and it looks like the end of the shaft broke off inside the hub.

First off, how do you get the pinion bushing out to get to the pinion gear? I couldn't figure how to remove it as it is sunk in the cylindrical shaft on the hub.

Secondly, can I just replace the inner of the speedo or do I have replace the whole cable?

what you on about
replace the whole thing ... speedo cables have too many tight bends and crack the outer id change the worm too

youve taken the cover off then and the cable is down inside?? ..... try spinning the wheel backwards that can push it out ..... if not get some long nose pliers and fish it out then pull the metal collar out and stick the new cable inner in the worm and spin wheel backwards and it should guide the worm out on the end of the cable

then do the feed inner up the old outer trick to swap the cable

hope this makes sense as it sorta does to me

yea mine just broke at about where the outer exits the fork. it rubbed a hole in the outter against the fender.

after doing some looking around and research i think you should replace both each time for the speedo. it is the only cable on the bike that is worn in a spiral pattern, thus most speedo cables never indicate trouble until its too late.
