Hi has anyone installed the Vespa alarm? If so how complex was the install?
How satisfied are you with it?

Thanks,
UTC

I watched the dealer install the alarm in my GT200. 602845M002 is the part #, they had to take the glovebox off to put it on. I would be cautious and let the dealer do it if you've never taken the scooter apart.

Also, looking ath the manual, it looks like there is a specific orientation and placement that it looks like the alarm has to be in to have the connections as water tight as possible (cable into alarm on the bottom with a dip in the power/control cable.

Had the dealer install the Vespa Alarm, because I got it as a "throw in" when I bought the scooter. I watched teh mechanic install it and it looked pretty simple, as long as you use the factory wiring harness. He spent more time tinkering with sensetivity setting than installing.

Did need to drill small hole in knee pad for the alarm light/key FOB prong thingy.

Works great and it is nice sense of security.

total time to install was 30-minutes

I bought a talking alarm system from the UK. Took me about 45 minutes to install it. Cost me $52 delivered.

There's a thread about it on here.

Too funny. I wish I could program mine, but the English accent is pretty cool.

"Welcome to the Cyclone C-11 alarm system"

"Please remember to arm the alarm"

"Please step away from the vehicle. This vehicle is alarmed"

I went to have an alarm installed and the dealer talked me out of it saying that they are more trouble than they are worth and he removes more from customers than he installs. Its down to the individual at the end of the day, my opinion is alarms are great when people notice them but how many times do we all hear alarms and ignore them in the street?
immobaliser, padlock and chain for me with a pir motion detector in the shed,
oh and my rhodesian ridgeback staffy cross bitch helps!!!

I got the Cyclone none talking one, however they have released a limited run of Max and Paddy 'Get Back You B*****d' alarms, but they don't work with Piaggio (and by extension Vespa) scooters - needless to say i was gutted!

Interesting thought, it never occurred to me until now. I had just gotten insurance and not bothered with an alarm, I do use a cable and lock though.
