My 2007 GTS 250ie has a small problem with the glovebox. The hinges it articulates on are plastic, and seem to be somewhat loose in their cavity. When I press the button to pop the glovebox door open, it comes down, but it is scraping the paint off of the metal at the bottom where the hinges rest on the body. I have put a bit of clear coat on the spots, but it has already scraped the paint down to bare metal. Any suggestions or anyone having a similar problem???

Mine is down to the primer, but not the metal.

Chipping seemed to stop after just a couple at the top of the curve.

There are two metal plates behind the glovebox that need tightening. I'll try and find a picture...

Dougl is correct- mine did this very thing, and the cure is to remove the glovebox and tighten those screws. I put a little loctite on mine while I was at it. It is a PITA to do though, and "that rubber band" needs to be in place for reassembly, or the glovebox won't open. If you are enthusiastic a search will find you the right info, if you are less enthusiastic and under warranty your dealer can do it
