with all the bodge vespas out there....let me ask this:

if you could scoop one up for CHEAP (I mean like 100 bucks no more)

would you buy it and use it for parts? Rebuild what you can sell as scrap metal such things as the frame etc.

we all know the frame is probably welded together but there surly must be some salvagble parts..

just a poll...please no lectures

Crappy parts are the reason you don't want to buy one in the first place. I wouldn't trust anything on it. What kind of parts do you think that you would get? I can't help but think you would be better off just buying the parts from a reputable dealer.

Have to agree with this. I mean you might be able to get maybe the levers or a headlight or something off of it but that's a lot to pay for a lever or headlight. Considering the rest of these are shit that's really about all I'd trust off of one.....and the levers are ever questionable.

I might buy it. It could be a halfway decent yard ornament.

that is seriously about all most of these things are good for, though indoors may be a better place to display as the pain/bondo coating tends to shed rapidly when left to the weather.

If I could buy one for $100.00(or less), I would buy it in
a minute(take all the chrome off it), paint it one color,
and leave it out in front of the house for
a few years till it rusted away.

If it was a fake handlebar, or Farro basso Vespa ( Fender light)
or some frankinbodge strange looking POS, I would not want
to have that in front of the house, but
a Sprint, or VBB would be fine.

Not this one!!!!:

YES, for a hundred or so.

Then take it off road and abuse it worse than highway driving ever could, and thrash it like I would NEVER treat an original scoot, and call the frame good if it holds up. Thrashed properly long enough, the engine and overall condition could be verified also. Proceed from there.

When you look at how quickly 100 bucks gets wasted on things you don't need like the beer you rent, cigarettes you burn, etc., that ain't much money. I would get a hundred bucks satisfaction just thrashing it.

If it has new, name brand tires you're getting close to your money back. PM me if you have one from VA to northern FL fairly near the coast and I'll come get it.

Yeah I'd be in for a hundy as long as it wasn't a frankenscoot. Tho the sad reality is here in NZ people are still asking sh!tloads for their bodge jobs so I'll I'll never see one for US$100/NZ$140

You know, I can get one for free, and never taken my buddy up on it. I would be scared to death to take it out motocrossing and have the frame break in half while I beat the crap out of it. It would get its vengence on me, I just know it...

Otoh, I have wanted to rip one apart, blast the frame and if good (yeah right) build some sort of theme bike for the hell of it. Trash the chrome add-ons that are always there and just have a frankenbike low rider, or somesuch.

But really, it would still piss me off using the rest of the crap components that would be left after I trashed the obvious bodgey chrome addons. So I doubt I would ever do it. Even "for free."

So while I agree $100 bucks for a motovespa is worth it, I would be just as scared it would bust when I landed from the first jump...

I wouldn't. A squirrel or maybe the neighbour's cat would sit on it, it would break in two, the cat would lose a whisker and I'd be sued.
