It's this weekend... the Atlantic got flyered for it

I think I'm gonna roll the GT to it though - I can't imagine a 460cc aprilia really being fun at a rally...

NapaCoach and I were talking about it last night. I don't think either of us will be able to make it though. Looks like better weather than last year!

I'd like to go, but haven't figured out when they're doing the riding part of the rally. There's a pub crawl, a scavenger hunt, and a timed alley race. All of these are sort of riding related, but being a rally newbie, I'm not sure what's involved in the scavenger hunt and don't really want to participate in the race.

Any idea if there'll be a plain old ride through SF?

Yeah, I'm going to show up for that one as well. Might come in a little earlier and cruise around, see what's going on. I'll call you if I don't see you first.

Were you there Jess?
Hey Jess and The O.Z.,
I am one of the scooter girls and was at Benders, working the last checkpoint on the alley cat race, and at the BBQ at The Homestead. Were either of you there? Did I meet either of you? I was wearing a green SFSG t-shirt.

Trish - I was at Benders on Saturday and went on the 7pm night ride. What were you riding? That usually sticks out in my head, anyway.

Hmmm. My ET4 is broken so I was on the world's most beat up black Yamaha Riva 200. I skipped the ride as my bad night vision and back-up scooter don't mix well. Have a bright yellow helmet. Was wearing a brown cordouroy blazer and jeans.

Trish - Being my first rally (and shy to begin with) I was hiding in the corner with Oz and Julie and Glasseye most of the night, since I knew them. I was wearing a gray Corazzo jacket and a blue T-shirt. I think Oz was wearing a black textile jacket (can't remember what kind) and for some reason I'm totally blanking on what Glasseye was wearing.

I think I remember seeing the Riva parked in front of Benders, though, not very far from my green GT. I think Oz was parked right behind you, up on the sidewalk.

Well, we'll be sure to meet next time. I am still very new to the SF scooter scene and so I don't know that many people outside of the scooter girls.

Being naturally gregarious though I am totally afraid that someone will come to a rally and no-one will talk to them. And since I did not know what to do at my first rally, I can see this happening. I saw someone at Benders who sat at a booth alone for a while. He did not seem dressed for scooter riding (no gear that I could see) so I suspect he was just at the bar not part of the rally. So I felt really torn, do I go and say Hi to this person just to find out not there for the rally and then try to find a polite way to extract myself from conversation or just do nothing. I hemmed and hawed and by the time I decided to go say Hi he was gone. I am SO glad it wasn't you. I think I thought your scooter was Michelle's, she also has a green GT.

Also, if anyone reading this came to Big Wet One and Benders and no one said Hi, please come to another rally. We are really nice people.

Trish: I actually think I might have seen you, but not spoken to you. I'm a bit shy and reclusive on occasion. I hide in small corners a lot.

I missed the Sunday stuff because of prior commitments, unfortunately, but I am pretty sure I was actually riding next to you for a good portion of the trek through the Potrero.

If you saw us...

That's Jess making a face while at the rally...

And that jerk's me, hiding behind blue blockers, completely unrelated to the rally because I magically got away without Jess posting any pics (not a hint ). So there you go - you may remember if you met us more than I due to my hiding.

There was a Riva I saw but I think it was a 50cc or so bike, white with green and had a hair clip on the handle bars. I think the seat was purple. That was most likely not yours.

So if you're with SF Scooter Girls, thanks for helping to put on a fun rally! Wish I had a bit more time to spend on it but Julie was a bit under the weather and needed to rest.

Welcome, btw!

That's my friend Melanie's riva. We rode over to Benders together, I was parked on the other side of the street. I *think* I saw you both. Were you guys sitting near the pool tables ever? Anyway. Glad you came. Sorry Julie was under the weather.

I think we were pretty much sitting exclusively near the pool table. It was a corner, I hid.

Next rally I'll actually talk to people, I swear.

Thusly, we have a new years resolution:

stop hiding in corners.

I'll keep it that vague so that way, if I can't break my shyness, I'll hide under the table instead.

Yo, Tony! You don't have to go all the way to SF for a scooter rally-- Hook up with the OR Scooter Club in Portland. Monthly rides all year; I joined some 30+ scoots for a ride to the Columbia Gorge last fall.

Check out their site if you haven't:
http://www.oregonscooterclub.org/index.php

And if you can't scoot, ski! (I had a great day on Mt Hood today-- tons of snow; what a switch from last year...)

Ciao,

Hi Deborah,

I wish i could hook up with OSC more often, i went to their last rally, which was pretty cool. (did you go?)
Unfortunately im in Bend, which is pretty crappy for scooting around right now.

I was thinking about taking up skiing...but then i decided to spend the money on a lambretta project instead.

But when the snow melts, ill definately be up in portland to meet up with some of you guys.

Neer beer would be the beverage selected......much easier to avoid the "blue meanies" that way.

Hope luck is running with ya Matt, take care.....

The bay is great, you should at least come to visit. We can go for a ride

The clutch is workin' just fine (for about 700 mi) though I'll always be paranoid, I've settled on that fact. I'll always assume it's ready to give. Oh well. Doesn't detract from my enjoyment
