Re: conversion.

Up next disc hub/gearbox.

Reference threads:
Rosebud LX200 Super Special
Gear tooth counts and interchangeability

Notes:

1) wheel axle needs to be cut and welded to eliminate outboard bearing stub.
2) rear fender needs to be modified for tire clearance.
3) center stand works but isn't stable, will need modification or GT stand.
4) sourcing used -- good luck, nobody wants to part out trans, but could probably get complete used motor for same $$ as new trans parts only -- GT 200 leader only, 250/300 stuff won't work.

Parts needed;

wheel axle ------- 8347335
housing cover --- 8322495
bearing ---------- 485912 ---- qty 2
gasket ---------- 847930
bolts ------------ 825758 ---- qty 3

optional:

countershaft ---- 485891

GT countershaft is optional as there are several gearing options:
1) LX/S stock primary + secondary in combo with 110/60 tire yields slight upgear
2) LX/S primary + GT secondary + 110/60 = slight downgear
3) Polini primary + GT secondary + 110/60 = optimal upgear?

Need to install 1 bearing each in cover and trans case and press gears as required then install is simple remove and replace.
For the housing cover, Can I use the GTS250's housing cover or have to find on the GT200 one only? Waiting for your replying. Thx u so much

Has to be a GT125 or GT200 cover. The GTS250 will not fit.

Doesn't look promising.

Question's been asked at least a couple times on here, don't think it's been done...yet. Somebody needs to get their hands on a Sprint wheel and put it to rest one way or other.

Nice, now there's 2 of them.

I'm running 110/60-12 Maxxis. Diameter is almost same as OE 10/11"s. Hard to source, not available in the US, I have to order out of Netherlands. I think it's a Taiwan company, might be easier to find on your side of the world.

Also cut the mudguard and moved it back as far as it would go. Reinforced the joint with fiberglass. Only have a finished pic.

Nothing new on the cosmetics front, still needs paint and powdercoat. Have been riding and tuning. Happy to report have ~ 1500 miles on conversion with zero issues.

190 and upgear installed. No increase in top speed -- yet, but a bit quicker with with fatter torque. Currently running 9.8g (drilled stock) rollers in factory variator and red Malossi clutch springs. Not a wheely machine -- yet, but nobody beats me off the line at a light.
do you think i need the upgear installed also?

Vespa LX S150 with Sprint (Euro spec NOT Made in China) 12" wheels front and rear on Maxxis M6029 110/60/12's. Wheels fit directly with no mods.

Q - does the rear disc mod require a GT200 axle or can the LX axle be used ?

Major update. Finished the paintwork except PPO plastic front fender needs plastic welding to fill the holes. Proof that very professional looking results are do-able with spray cans. Also recent additions MP3 wheels and wavy rotors.

GT vs LX/S bearings = different size but similar specs -- longevity shouldn't be an issue.

that's a brave decision to use a cut and welded shaft. I mean it change the fabrication specs, so didn't you worried about the safety issue?

i'm planning to change my vespa s rear wheel into 11" or 12", i'm considering to use primavera or sprint gearbox. I think it's more safety, but is it possible to do? is there anyone tried it before?

Weld only needs to support clamping force at hub. Had it done by a Pro, pre-heated the part before welding to minimize any metallurgical changes. 7k miles so far zero issues.

With the 3v motor Sprint or Primmy wheel should be bolt-on no? If not trans swap would be the way to go, maybe 946 parts if you want rear disc.

Black Carbon would look good with that Orange!
You could wrap some of the parts with carbon fiber, it would provide a nice contrast.

The bike looks great.

hello from greece..

Nice project...ive seen it 10 days now and i cant sleep!!

i need a tire change in my lx so , for the beggining i plan to put mp3 wheels in my lx150..and then buy tires ..

As i read its just a bolt kit?
doesnt it bother that mp3 has disk brakes?
the rear wheel just fits? and in front the same. without any adapter..
i dont want the bigger brakes for the time being..

Thanks!

As i read its just a bolt kit?
Not quite, read it again. Sprint or Primavera wheels might be closer to "bolt-on."

A little trimming and a small bracket. Next time it's off the bike can take some pics. Might be easier to use one off a Fly or Typhoon as they have 12" wheels.

Pics for evildead -- hugger mods.

1) existing brackets trimmed off.
2) center mount location shortened and notched.
3) L bracket

Is there any issues for the rear wheel when it fully compressed because of the load or when taking a pothole or a big bump? Will it touch/rub the rear fender (the orange one)?

And someone told me that fly's gearbox cover could be use and compatible with lx's

Thank you

GT housing moves wheel 2 inches rearward. Fender had to be modified to clear. Cut and moved it as far back as it would go.

Why the Fly cover? For the 12 inch wheel?
