Serious question: I sort of thought the new S 150 ie would have a really smoothe engine that sort of purrs. Instead, mine seems to idle roughly and it sounds like it should be pouring out black smoke. I don't want the engine on a brand new modern scooter to be quirky, but if I was just deluded, I can get over it. Are your engines nice and smooth, or should mine sound like my weed eater? Just trying to get some perspective.

It shouldn't sound like you are describing that yours sounds. I see that you have the latest model (fuel injected) so perhaps there is a problem with the fuel injector or ??? I would return it to the dealer to get it straightened out asap.

If it sounds as though the noise coming from the scoot is a constant "pattern" then it's probably fine... Does your idle sound too fast or slow? You could try disconnecting one of the Battery terminals to reset the ECU? might sort out the fuel mixture...

Hows about getting a video of it and posting it on here via good ol'youtube?!

Remember, it IS a one-cylinder "thumper." If you are used to the sound of multi-cylinder engines, any one-cylinder engine is going to seem rough.

ScooterTX: If you would record the sound and post it in this thread, it would give us a much clearer picture of what you're describing.

i have a lx150ie and would have to assume the engine is identical to the s150ie. the idle is noticeably smooth and has that "just right" sound. i'm not sure what would cause yours to seem rough but would think it would be a fairly simple adjustment. i'm sure your dealer can take care of it for you. you bought yourself a great "ride".

My LXVie idles very smoothly for a scooter engine as well, but I'm sure it would sound fairly lumpy to someone used to the purr of a V8.

It's not clear to me whether the OP is hearing something wrong, or just something he's not used to.

Silver Streak, your observation is dead-on and the reason for my posting. I'm not sure if I'm hearing something wrong or just something I'm not used to. But, I do know that she feels sluggish now and didn't used to. It's nearly time for the first service. I'll mention all of this then. Thanks for your resposes.
